During the greatest stretch of his pro career, he had 8 TDs in 8 games. Stellar? Yawn. Despite his limitations, I'd actually like to see the Skins re-sign Campbell and use their first pick to draft a QB. They can re-build the O line with their other draft picks and via free agency. Maybe Campbell will step up like Drew Brees did when the Chargers drafted Philip Rivers.

We'd have a much improved JC and a rookie QB drafted in the top 10. Win-win!

Yeah a 1 td per game avg is awesome :) but it kindof takes away some of the luster when a rook QB on a team as bad as Tampa can come in and throw 3 td's in his 1st yr in the system, 1st start.
Brees was good in SD, its not like he was a scrub and then the light came on when he got to N.O

What gets me is that the kind of play we are getting out of Campbell thus far has been IDENTICAL to Mark Brunell during his final year as the starter.

He was blamed for not throwing the deep ball and always throwing the checkdown. Allegedly the line was horrible then too. It seems like for as long as i can remember, the redskins have had a horrible O-line.

Nobody is screaming bench Campbell, but they were screaming to bench Brunell when he did the same exact stuff. He actually had 8 TD's through 6 games in 2006, and when Jason had 1 TD per game, he was playing at a career level....go figure.

Brunnell never had a "horrible" line. Not even close.

I was thinking the same thing....JC is a servicable NFL quarterback, I still think he has potential even though my patience is wearing thin...he will never be great but definitely be good.

Its easy to say "replace JC" but who are we replacing him with?

I agree with this, however I would prefer for us to draft a LT in 1st round and then draft a QB in 2nd round (although my ideal is to draft offense linemen in first three drafts, 1st, 2nd, and 4th) but it is a fact that we need a QB.. I have always believed in Campbell, but just like some, my patience is wearing out thin now.. To be in win-win situation, we need to resign Campbell to maybe 1 or 2 years, and find a QB to compete for #1 spot..

Why would JC want to come back?

Really? Nobody has been screaming to bench Campbell?

I think the big difference there is that Brunell was seen as though he had passed his prime. Campbell on the other hand was supposed to be "taking the next step."

JC wont be back either way. Noway he resigns even IF we offer him a new contract. I believe DS has grown tired of waiting for a return on his investment that he put into JC.
Who could blame him?
