Thank you for whoever modified this thread. And please let this be the end of the non-sense threads/comments that blindly pin the faults of the 8-8 season on JUST Jason Campbell.
has anyone placed blame on the 8-8 season JUST on campbell? i must have missed something? we finished 8-8 for the following reasons (in order):
1) Zorn abandoned the Gibbsian rungame that was working so well mid-season and generally sucked at calling plays all year.
2) The offensive line regressed dramatically.
3) None of our rookie Pass-catchers developed and Santana only tries when he feels like it.
4) Our kicking situation was horrible.
5) Jason Campbells play at quarterback simply wasnt good enough.
6) Kareem Moore and Pete Kendall screwed up on 1 crucial play each.
Anyone claiming JC is solely responsible for our losing season would obviously also be too stupid to figure out how to use a keyboard, so i seriously doubt anyone has claimed that.

No, I didn't misread your post. We're actually on the exact same page as far as the Brennan/Collins thing. I shouldn't have quoted you when I typed that response. My bad. I'll go fix it.
no, my bad -i know we disagree on a number of things here - i just wanted to make sure you knew my point and we agreed for once, lol

I think I'm going to copy and paste this as a response to people that overly criticize JC. Good points.
Zorn was horrid at play calling 70% of the time
O-line couldn't block my little sister and her friends.
recievers were sub-par, and that may be an over-statement.
we barely had a pass rush, jason taylor had one good game if that.
Moss should have been returning WAY more punts.
when the line was healthy, and not beat up, JC was doing fine.
he only got worse because of the line.... and..... every QB misses some throws, and miss open receivers when the coach is telling u to go elswhere with the play-call....
i hardly blame him at all.
i'd lay 20% of the blame on Campbell.
no more no less.

Here's what I propose:
There should be one thread and one thread only discussing our QB situation, be it starter or backup. And no new threads on the topic until there is some actual news to report.
Obviously the QB threads are worthy of disscusion since it's seems to bring a lot of ideas and opinions to the table. I agree with GMScud about having one thread on the subject. Until a later date.

First, the new thread suggestion is just a joke. Secondly, I think Colt certainly showed potential (or as Dirtbag likes to put it...Upside!) in his limited time on the field with and against borderline at best NFL talent in many instances. Still, strong preseason stats just aren't enough to tell us the whole story and can often be misleading.
Case in point...Bruce Gradkowski and Cleo Lemon were the best QBs during the preseason of 2006
Look, I think Colt has a lot of potential and actually could be a pretty decent NFL QB just that it's too soon to say for sure
I knew you where joking Smoot. I felt like taking a shot at ya :)
I do think Colt will have the 2 position by season opener. I also still stand with my confidence in him as a backup/starter to JC. I realize this statement on Colt is partlly blind.
Yea but not as good as Colt did. Not a great argument here.
Trying to gauge a player based on the preseason is about as pointless of an argument as there is.

I gauged him on performance his ability to read the field his quick desision making. And his acuracy. Unfortunatly preseason is the only play time he had to show it. Again I'm not for replacing JC with Colt. Just saying I think Colt has what it takes. Just my opinion Matty.

And my opinion is you can't properly judge a player on what he does in the preseason against scrubs. Every year there are countless preseason heroes that are in street clothes by the time the regular season begins or jumping from practice squad to practice squad. So if your opinion is you think Colt is a player based on what you saw him during the preseason, I'm just saying you might want to hold off on that until we see what he can do in real action. If he ever earns that chance that is.
