Carter was a horrible linebacker in San Fran. Thats why they let him go.
They let him go because we payed him 5 MIL a season.

I think the Redskins should Go to A 3-4 Defense.T.O.Killa 02-05-2009, 01:42 PM Carter was a horrible linebacker in San Fran. Thats why they let him go. Daseal 02-05-2009, 01:45 PM T.O.Killa -- Look at Carters stats as a LB -- they weren't very good. He's good at DE, we should keep him here. If you really think Griff or Monty could play NT you're delusional. If we switch to a 3-4 we better get some 350 monster to anchor the Dline and eat up blocks. T.O.Killa 02-05-2009, 01:50 PM In the 3-4 you need three solid d-lineman, including a big DT that can draw a double team and can push the offensive line. So if we move Carter and JT to LBs, then who do you have as defensive ends? Daniels, evans, and Gholston Dblock804 02-05-2009, 01:53 PM Carter needs to stay on the line. IMO he is the best D-lineman have. As far as Taylor maybe outside LB but who knows if he's going to be around. I dont like him at DE or LB. one good year. I think that either defense would require about the same amount of new faces to make them good. The 3-4 is the superior defense, right now. wilsowilso 02-05-2009, 01:55 PM I don't think Carter liked playing LB. I don't think Carter liked playing DE last year either. 30gut 02-05-2009, 02:29 PM I've been wanting to post this for a long time. Why dont the Redskins go to a 3-4 defense. It seems to be the dominant defense in the league and I think we have the players. Jason Taylor would be better siuted to it and we could have Golston and Evans play the ends and Monty play NT. Wilson could probably play some LB and maybe a Suggs in Free agency or a Dansby. What Do you guys think. I think the biggest issue about going to the 3-4 is that none of the current coaches knows how to run/install it. Greg Blache is a 4-3 guy the next man in the pecking order is Jerry Gray a 4-3 guy. I don't know about Olivadotti or Palermo background. But, i agree we could run it. We ran a defense in the second Eagles game that looked alot like a 3-4, Blache just had JT55 stand up and roam around. Hypothetically we could put: LE Golston/Evans NT Monty/Griffin/Golston RE Alexander/Evans LOLB-Carter/Rob Jackson ILB- Rocky ILB-Fletcher ROLB-JT/Wilson Interesting post. MTK 02-05-2009, 02:31 PM I feel like we have this conversation every offseason. What is the fascination with the 3-4?? BigHairedAristocrat 02-05-2009, 02:43 PM I feel like we have this conversation every offseason. What is the fascination with the 3-4?? weve been in essentially the same defense for nearly a decade (Lewis, Williams, and now Blache). People want something new for the sake of having something new. The only way i'd want the 3-4 here is if it meant we were getting rid of Blache for a defensive coordinator who isnt scared to attack. However, since our offense is in shambles and our defense is the only thing our team can consider a strength, id shudder to think of how bad we'd be in 2009 while transitioning to a 3-4. |
