My wife kept saying that his right foot was only touching his left foot but never touched the ground. They never gave us a good enough angle to actually see if the toes of his right foot hit the turf. It was really close.
As for the game overall, I'll agree w/Mike Golic who said it was a great 4th quarter but there was some sloppy play prior to that.
Calls were big, I thought the personal foul on Dansby was bogus & yet Warner took several hits that were just as 'late.' But I think they at least called the holding well, and they got Pitt for it in the end zone. Fitzgerald got held a lot.
His right foot was kinda tucked behind the left one and it was really hard to tell if it touched the ground or not. Either way it was too close to overturn. Great catch by Holmes.

I thought that holding call was too close to call in that situation. The Steeler lineman was pancaked and I didnt think he was holding because he was busy getting knocked on his azz. IMO, that was the biggest call of the game as it gave AZ the ball back for their taking the lead drive when it looked like Pgh was going to start a drive of their own.
GTripp0012 02-02-2009, 11:51 AM I really don't think the officiating decided this one and definately don't think the fix was in or anything, but I feel confident in saying that there was a different standard for late hit on quarterback with the Cardinals than the Steelers, and that's sort of the way it's been all year in Steeler games.
I don't believe in giveback calls, so let's just treat the Dansby call as what it was: an awful call on a drive that ended at the two yard line anyway, and move on.
GTripp0012 02-02-2009, 11:53 AM It was a top five super bowl ever, and it had more game changing plays than last year, but I'm not going to be calling it the greatest SB ever. It didn't beat last year as a game.
Gmanc711 02-02-2009, 11:54 AM Last years still blows this one away in my opinion, and to be honest, I didnt watch (attentivley) most of the first 3 quarters because I was just talking and doing whatever...but that was one hell of an ending.
GMScud 02-02-2009, 12:10 PM I'd say it was the best SuperBowl I can remember watching as far as excitement. There were turnovers, big plays, 4th quarter drama... The only thing that taints it a bit IMO were all the penalties, but an awesome, awesome game. I enjoyed it more than last year's game. The Tyree catch was amazing, sure, but all the explosive plays and outstanding quarterbacking made this one so fun.
The hyperbole on ESPN has been pretty funny. Yeah it was a great game, but they did their top 10 all-time SuperBowl plays, and three of them were from yesterday's game. That's a bit much. Like Matty said, let the dust settle a bit.
firstdown 02-02-2009, 12:32 PM The game was decent and the final 5 minutes were exciting but I never could shake the fact that the Arizona Cardinals were representing the NFC. One of the reasons I hate parity is the Super Bowl is no longer a game of the two best in their divisions. I think this would have been a great Monday Night Football game. Not a great Super Bowl, though.
So they beat all three teams they faced in the playoffs and they are still not the best team in the NFC? Maybe we should just elminat the playoffs and just take the teams with the best records at the end of the year.

Imagine that, ESPN going overboard on hyping something. I'm really surprised they haven't created a segment 'Top 10 highlight catchphrases from this hour' to run at the end of each show.
skinsfan69 02-02-2009, 12:34 PM Not sure if it was the best SB ever but it was a great game to watch. Could not get over all the penalties. Arizona could have won the game but they just beat themselves w/ the killer TO which was a 14 point swing and all the stupid calls.
Whiteboi_J 02-02-2009, 12:45 PM Y'all need to get out of here, saying this was the best super bowl ever! Man that game was so ugly to watch! no team could run the rock, Cards OTs couldn't block a turtle coming off the edge, big ben kept the ball alive cause the cards couldn't tackle him.....saw more flags then at ur local July 4th parade....everyone saying it was best ever cause of the 2 lead changes in the 4th quarter, including a great catch by holmes in the corner.....HOW THE HELL did 3 guys let holmes get to the corner?!?!?!? It was good, but not nearly the best. not even top 10
