ChickenMonkey 02-07-2009, 10:46 PM There are 10 Good FA OT's this year.....6 of 10 have 5yrs or less in the league..
No reason we cant pick up 1 or 2 to solidify the line this year...Especially when 3 of them
have just come off a SuperBowl Victory .......We can use our 4 draft picks on a (OG/C) or 2 a LB,DE and a change of pace RB....I place a high priority on a OG/C prospects like Alex Mac in the first round after we trade down....Our DT spot will have to wait till next year Cornelius Griffin, Monty and Golston will all be back..look for an addition at DT from the Undrafted FA's pool

gaudiomatt 02-08-2009, 02:22 AM If they cut Washington, Springs, Taylor and Daniels we'll have a lot of cap space. I see no reason to keep them they don't perform for what they're paid. Pisses me off how vinny worships Springs yet the man won't play if he has a scratch on him.

Yeah I think that gives us about 17 million in cap room (remember we're starting 3 million over) and then after resigning our own players, including Hall, we'll be looking at about 7 or so million left over for FA. This is my best guess but I could be wrong. Anywho IMHO we need to address OLB first and foremost in FA (assuming we take one of the top OTs @13). If we're going to pay big dollars in FA this year it should be a OLB and Suggs would be the very best. He's an obvious upgrade over Marcus.
... i'm always starting to wonder whether it's absolutely necessary to replace Daniels if the FO is smart enough to cut him. Evans is serviceable and a big upgrade at OLB is arguably going to do us more good than a big upgrade at end. Anyway Peppers is probably the only potential big upgrade FA end anyway and he's not coming here.

I wouldn't be so sure. Suggs was a DE in college, and has only played in a 3-4 scheme as more or less a stand up rusher. I don't think he's a lock to be a good 4-3 'backer. If we're looking at FA D players. Lets raid the AZ Cardinals. Both Karlos Dansby and Darnell Dockett are FAs, young, and beasts. Suggs has also openly stated he would give Baltimore a hometown discount.
RedskinMike 02-08-2009, 09:25 AM would love to get dockett he is a beast and a local guy at that
Nflnick11 02-08-2009, 09:51 AM Is dockett a free agent cause I didn't hear or see that anywhere... If he is, the cards will just franchise him... But the good news about that is that karlos dansby will be a free agent without the franchise tag, and last I checked, we need a young OLB.

just checked on dockett, and he is under contract through 2011 so that sucks

I'm all for Dansby but Dockett isn't a FA.

If these guys played on teams other than the Skins and where available as FA's would we go after any of them. Just a thought. I don't like the idea of cutting Taylor.

Good points on Suggs... i know he's not proven in the 4-3 system but you just look at the guy being a beast figure he'll be pretty good wherever he lines up, sort of how people view Jason Taylor but i think Suggs is much stronger against the run and an overall better fit for our system. If Marcus is on his way out for sure I'd prefer cutting Taylor and bringing in Suggs over letting Taylor "roam" all over as a OLB. Dansby could command a higher payday having played in the SB.
... we're going to have to dish out some major dough to upgrade the position through FA and i would just feel more confident w/ Suggs. A year younger and plays in a way tougher division than Dansby.
