Trample the Elderly 01-23-2009, 11:06 PM Trample the Elderly - I like that draft a little better, but I'd say in 3rd round we have to pick up one of the interior lineman b/c there are lots of good G/C that are 3rd round prospects. I'd especially go G/C in 3rd if we take Raji in the 1st.
This would be a step in the right direction for VC, and give JZ more to work with. I honestly think that if we can get Raji, that would be WAY better than drafting a DE....I heard Raji is dominating all the top OL prospects in 1 on 1 drills. Even if he doesn't get any sacks, he would require a double team, thus allowing 1 of our 6 blitzers to go un-touched....i'd get pissed when i'd see us blitz 6 and not see us get past the line of scrimmage.
I see your reasoning and it's good. My thoughts are this. They're going to move Jansen to guard, not because it's a good football move, but because of salary cap issues. That's also true with a lot of the O-line. Seeing how everyone is smitten with Raji and he'll probably be gone the next best guy is Jason Smith. That's assuming that the he's the best OT falling to us. RT has to be filled. I can see a younger free agent coming in to fill a hole if Kendall isn't signed. And this team likes to take it's sweet ass time with O-line men.
With Marcus Washington probably on his way out and if Clay Mathews is there, I'd think they'd be foolish not to get him.
If those centers are there in the third like you say then yes pick one. I'm not impressed with Unger though and Alex Mack will be gone by then.

Ya i'd love for Jason Smith to drop to us, b/c he could start at LT and Samuels could move to RT....Jansen could be used to spell Samuels, or just straight back him up until Samuels gets hurt. lol. Then Heyer or Rinehart could play LG, and we wouldn't have to re-sign kendall. ORRR move Jansen to LG and have Heyer and Samuels split time, cause even though Samuels still has like 4 years left on his contract, i think he might retire before then...if not, it'll keep Samuels healthy for the whole season by only having to play half a game.
if we take a C in the 3rd round, that'll finish up the majority of the over-haul on OL, and next draft we can concentrate on the D front 7 in 1st and 2nd, and another G/C in 3rd or 4th
rypper11 01-24-2009, 06:31 PM 1st: Aaron Curry OLB, Wake Forest (most complete LB coming into the NFL. Barring injury, defensive rookie of the year)
3rd:Fili Moala DT, USC (I've seen him in some mocks at lower 1st round or mid 4th. He certainly benefited from being with such a great defense but if he's available here then he more than fits a need).
T.O.Killa 02-15-2009, 09:55 PM I would trade down 1st and 3rd pick into three second round picks. I would draft:
1. William Beaty (OT, 2nd)
2. Evander Hood(DT, 2nd)
3. Brian Robiskie(WR, 2nd)
4. Jason Williams(LB, 5th)
5. Greg Isdaner(OG, 6th)

So...did you read the first post or the thread title?

Who knows how Robinski might or might not turn out at the next level. But after last years draft, why in the world would you WASTE a draft pick on a WR in the 2nd round in your scenario.....?
We have 2 wideouts and a TE from last year we need to look at. Not WASTE more picks. WR is not even close to being on the priority list IMO!

I love the kid and I would replace Thrash, with him.
Trample the Elderly 02-15-2009, 10:45 PM Revised:
(13th) C Alex Mack
(80th) OLB Clay Mathews
(111th) T Joel Bell
(173rd) DT Sammie Lee Hill
Yes I know Mack is a late 1st but the rules of the thread says no trade downs. So there it is.

Sorry Smootsmack, but in my mind, this gets us to the superbowl, as long as Jason campbell finally does something.

That's great that you think that (I disagree, but that's great you think that nonetheless)...still, what would you do if you couldn't trade down or up or out.
