53Fan 02-23-2009, 01:23 AM Nice find sir. I wonder if his knack for missing blocks could be coached up, or rather coached out of him, under Joe's tutelage?
... i guess what i'm thinking here is a guy like Willis could come in and start right away and probably be an upgrade over Jansen/Heyer. We could be in better position then to trade down in the draft and get your fav center/guard and an OLB.
BTW it looks less and less likely the Curry "miracle" will happen for us 53.
It sure is fun to dream though. :)

U could even call it a fantasy LOL
That Guy 02-23-2009, 04:27 PM brown (ravens C) or stacy andrews (OG) would help too...
FA some decent OL starters and nugent, draft DL.
I mean we could use TJ too, but he's 31, probably wants a bunch of money, and we already have a lot invested in WRs (without much return).
I like rocky bernard at DT, and like every year there's a ton of depth LBs out there for cheap. I rather get foxworth for cheap or dunta for money at CB then waste a lot on getting hall back here.
again, that leaves DL as our weakest position after possible FA signings and current roster consideration. taylor and daniels are ancient, we've got one backup DE and a DT position without a real #1 DT (griff's stud days are gone). The only real FA that's attainable for the skins in bernard (and he's 30 too).
so i'd look for safe DE picks, and we're in the right range to get one... I wouldn't rule out a DT though, as 1st round graded DTs tend to be one of the safest picks a team can make (as far as bust %).
Nflnick11 02-23-2009, 09:24 PM I was listening to Orakpo talk about who he talked to and he said that he talked to the skins, and they asked him if he could SLB which he says he can do, but then again when millions of dollars are on the line you'll say anything
The Goat 02-24-2009, 02:39 AM Just saw on NFL Live that Ray Maluauga pulled his hammy and ran a terrible 40 (4.82 i think) and is expected to drop into the latter half of the 1st round. I think there's a nice opportunity to trade down and still pick up a monster LB or maybe OL in the 1st and get another pick.
Here's my question to the draft masters... what is the approximate value of our 13th. For instance, if we trade picks w/ Detroit at 20 or Philly (21st or 28th) can we hope to get their 2nd round pick as well or is their 3rd round the best we'll do. Also what if we threw in our last pick of the draft?
That Guy 02-24-2009, 03:45 AM NFL draft-pick value chart - NFL - ESPN (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft06/news/story?id=2410670)
1st and 2nd if its pick 20-24ish in both rounds. that chart is a guide though, not concrete.
30gut 02-26-2009, 01:10 AM Suppose we made absolutely no moves prior to draft day, no free-agent signings (other than maybe some camp bodies), and no trades for more draft picks this year.
If we assume the above, that leaves us with a 1st, 3th, 5th, and 6th round pick.
So with all that in mind, give me your mock draft as of today(this is who you would want the Skins to use their picks on)
I'll start (I wanted to get Connor Barwin in here, but just couldn't find a spot for him)
1st-OT: Best Available and that probably means Michael Oher at this point, but I'm becoming a big Eben Britton fan and I'd be tempted to take him
3rd-C: Antoine Caldwell (looking more unlikely he'll be around, but someone like Luigs could fall down there)
5th-DE/LB: Lawrence Sidbury (out of Richmond, could be a steal)
6th-um....some running back
1-Orakpo
3-BA Center/Tackle that can also play guard
5-BA Guard/Tackle
6- LBs Jasper Brinkley, Moises Fouku
FA/Comp 7th- C Dallas Reynolds
Dude, good heads up on the Barwin kid he put up beast numners at the combine
That Guy 02-26-2009, 03:25 AM orakpo have a great combine too... i mean, it would have been better if he ran a 4.5 ;) but then he'd be the #1 overall pick. he did as well as you possibly can with the numbers outside of being a true freak (mario williams, vernon, etc).
KingRaloIV 02-26-2009, 09:22 AM To me Portis got a lot of mileage on him, and he been in a lot of head on collisions. Even though he's tough as nails, we need a brand new muscle car! We need to draft a outstanding playmaker to compliment him in the back field. Betts is not that dude! If Portis aint playing we are getting it handed to us all last season. We need a mustang back there with our thoroughbred. Betts and Rock aint getting it done. There are 3 excellent playmaking backs in this draft we need one of them. The OL and DL can wait to the later rounds. I watch more college football than I do pro(except for the redskins). Those OL and DL in this draft are not that impressive. Majority take a lot of plays off and are overweight and lazy. Not your prototype Joe Gibbs, tough redskins players.
My point being we need to score more point with playmakers on offense, we need speed and durability i.e. percy harvin, Beanie Wells, Moreno. They are young monsters, playmakers, with speed. To me Harvin or Moreno would be the best fit because they are just like portis. We would not lose a step with them learning from and backing up portis in our style of play. Then portis could be the finisher in the redzone. Its all about scoring points in the NFL and running the ball. No 1st round OL or DL gonna do that! I rest my case for now. Hail to the Redskins!!!

Kinda hard to run when you don't have an offensive line. No thanks. Pass.
