Atlanta should trade for him to make up for lost time.

It's true, they are considering trading him or possibly just releasing him. At the same time, the GM has said that (and it could just be playing hardball with Sproles' agent) that they have no intention of making Sproles their featured back, though they want him back. So they're going to need a starting running back. Hello Ladell Betts trade!

You cannot be serious. I highly doubt that anyone views Ladell Betts as a featured back or even a 2nd back worth trading for. Maybe last season, but not now. Seriously, replacing LT with Betts?...That sounds like a couple of steps backwards if you ask me.

They're going to have to replace him with someone

I think the SD GM knows the gradual decline of RB's after they get a certain age (30) or carries. LT has played alot and does have some good years left in him but they most likely see this as trading high rather than low. They can get good value for him i would guess. I really can't argue w/ that logic. If they can get a first rounder for LT, would you take it. He's been nursing injuries for 2 years.

Let's look in the mirror here. We all love CP, but he's an "old" 26 (i think 26 years old). The question has got to be raised.

Look at the Eagles. They go to the extreme. If you're older than 30 they generally don't need you. You're done, cut, traded.

I wouldn't go that far but i do believe this is a young man's game now. Vet's are good but too many of them and you've got a problem.

Portis is 27 but who's counting:)

even with LTs injuries and and age he would be extreamly tempting for some teams. Not a good fit here IMO.

I would love to have Ward from the Giants to compliment Portis. That's another thread.

The thought of LT being cut or traded still seems crazy and a little sad. But I still have to see it to believe it.

Do you mean Derrick Ward from the Giants??

I think the bigger issue here is that I wonder if this is what's going to happen to CP pretty soon and before he even turns 30 yrs old.

WTF, yea sorry I meant to type the Giants. "Derrick Ward". And I agree with your statement on Portis. I am afraid of the same thing. That's why I'd like to see a 2nd RB. To share the load.

Thanks for the heads up Ruhskins.

Derrick Ward is fast and all, but he's actually a year older than CP. Ward turns 29 during training camp this year. Unless he can come damn cheap, I don't want him. We need to get younger.

I hear you GMScud. But not as much hard milage on Ward and he doesn't seem to mind being #2. I'd like younger too but who? He just seems like the best FA if available. IMO. Proven Starter.

Rashad Jennings would be a nice pick in the draft, if we had the luxury of taking him. But with so many other needs we really don't unfortunately
