Zorn seeing the same things we do

Nope at that point switching teams will be easy since I'd already sold my soul. So if the Ravens tanked I'd take the Lebron James approach to rooting for teams. My new favorite Baseball team the Yankees, favorite Basketball team, the Cav's, favorite NFL team New England, favorite soccer team Man U, favorite international soccer team Brazil, favorite golfer Tiger Woods, and so on and so on.

Yeah I hear you. Actually I have a confession to make. I Dirtbag have been flirting with the idea of becoming a Ravens fan. Fans talk all the time about sticking it to management and boycotting the team until something is done about the circus that is the Washington Redskins but they never have the heart to. I remember back in 2001 or 2002 when the Skins were like 0-5 1-5 under Marty how I started watching Ravens games the first one being the first match between the Titans and the Ravens. From that point on as more Ravens games started making their way to Atlanta I found myself becoming a fan to the point where I was rooting for the team in the Super Bowl with the same entuhsiasm that I rooted for the Skins.

Yeah call me what you will but only a fool would stay put in such an abusive relationship that is loyalty to these Washington Redskins. Now I'm not defecting yet but I have to say if nothing is done about the lines, and at the same time we get Vinny peddling his holy draft board then it's going to be very tempting to stand up and leave. Lifes to short to wait for Dan Snyder to learn how to run a team.
So your saying if our draft is poor your going or are you going to wait until week 8 of the season and pick the team with the best record? If you do switch and the Skins and Ravens played in the SB your sticking with the Ravens.

Everybody calm down. You guys really think the skins are going to state the obvious and say that they need to draft linemen? Come on if they say it and EVERY other team knows what they are going to do, that limits there trade options. On draft day the only team that knows what is going to happen is the one with the first pick and past the first pick the rest is a crap shoot. Not one team really says what or who they want, which would handicap themselves in the draft. Couple more months and we will all know.....

Considering we needed linemen last year and instead got two receivers and a tight end, i think other teams won't be surprised by ANYTHING we do this year. Personally, i wouldnt be surprised at all if we drafted a receiver, cornerback, safety, running back, or even quarterback with our 1st pick. Nothing this team does surprises me anymore.

No one likes loosing, however what I can't stand is incompetent management. My post was more about that then anything, a lot of the other guys saw that to. Like I said before, even though I have considered it, the fact remains that the rant is more likely an expression of frustration. Ironically rooting for a sports team is a lot like being attracted to someone, it's not really much of a choice, rather it just is. I'm way past the point where I'm a Redskin fan because I choose to be, it's just something I am, so even if I tried I doubt I could do it. In fact technically speaking my best chance was when the Ravens won the Super Bowl as I had started not only rooting for them before mid-season, but also because I had started paying attention to the Redskins again in 1999 when I started playing High School Football. The mid-90's were more of a baseball/video games time for me.

However I also examined, through me, how we the fans might be part of the problem. As a thread pointed out recently the Washington Redskins are the third most valuable sports franchise in the world, despite being run like a circus, save Gibbs 2.0. We keep buying tickets, merchandise, parking spots, etc. As a result we leave a stubborn owner with the justification he needs to run the franchise with his best friend at GM, and a head coach that's less likely to stand up to him. If more people were willing to at least turn their back to the team then maybe we'd stand a chance of not having to put up with the deconstruction of this once proud franchise.

Though it is kind of ironic considering that if the Colts hadn't moved I would more likely then not be a Baltimore Colts fan.

Also before I forget, for anyone else who may want to "come after me" (I quote this because it's been pretty civil for the most part) for my first post your free to say whats on your mind. I said what I said and it came from the heart. My only request is that you at least read the entire thread rather then reading that one post hitting the quote button and telling me what a bad fan I am.

I think it's probably best if you stepped back and looked across the NFL and you'll find several teams that have many of the same "issues", structure, and philosophies as the Redskins. We tend to think we're the absolute worst because we dedicate so much of our time each day to discussing it. But the number of teams like the Redskins is much higher than the number of teams not like the Redskins.

Wow, I am so glad to see someone else stating what I have also been thinking. I attended the NFC Championship game at RFK back in 1991 - I remember screaming at the top of my lungs and the stadium was so loud that I could not even hear myself. We were literally shaking the foundations. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a diehard Skins fan, and I used to be obnoxiously so -- I went to college in Texas, my college roommate was from Denver when we whipped their asses in 1987 (yes, a group of them burned their jerseys on a bet I made to them). I mean, I loved the Skins, absolutely loved them. Fast forward to today ... I almost can't take it anymore. From moving out of RFK to overpaying for washed up free agents, to Sean Taylor being murdered (the only player I loved on the team since Darrel Green retired), to today with the most mediocre crew I can remember ... I think to myself, maybe I need a break. I never thought I'd think that, but I guess I never thought we'd have an owner so utterly incompetent. I live in Denver now, and with the new coach, I have been debating switching to Denver until Snyder is gone. It is kind of sad to have such thoughts. Wow, that felt good to vent.
