nope, run blocking could definately be better, but our WRs i'd think are actually better blockers than what some other teams have... i didn't see much of thrash besides a couple early plays, but i did see a good number of gardner/coles blocking throughout.
I agree that our WR's can be good blockers, Thrash has proven this in the past and Gardener with 1 year in Marty ball. Coles, well he played for Spurier here and we know he was always running routes in the fun and gun.

I was at the game and the WR's did lose plenty of blocks. They did there job most of the time but weren't able to sustain them. So that needs improvement which if you go back in this thread was my original point. Glad to see I actually convinced you in my arguement. Now if the Big C would acknowledge I would be happy.

you didn't have to convince me of anything, seeing soo many 1 yard runs was enough to know we need better run blocking. I was just saying that our WRs were helping out... WR vs LB doesn't always work out though.

one thing you have to look at is if you take away Portis' 64 yard TD run, he only averaged 3 yards a carry.

We've beat the yards per carry thing to death on another string (maybe it's the one about Portis being a product of Denver's system). Portis gets big runs: that's one of the ways you gain 1500 yards a season.

Here's a question for you stat junkies: What were his yards per carry on the last two drives, when the Bucs knew we were gonna run EVERY PLAY? He picked up some huge 1st downs there, especially that one on 3rd down right before the 2 minute warning. H scored the crucial TD early, and basically won the game by running out the clock. What more is he supposed to do?

if you take away the first run, take away the 7 1 yarders at the end too, and his average will seem better again. Running out the clock is a great way to kill your average, as is playing a good defense... well, usually ;)

Some of the arguments posted here are so petty and inconsequential. I know we would like to have a lively dialogue, but some of you really need to get a life. Clinton Portis did his job period. His ground attack won the game for us. Gibbs should fire the referee in the tent booth for missing that apparent first down by Brunell. The receivers blocked, the defense shut tampa down and we all slept good that night and soared into work the next day with a R on our chest!

Monday was a good day, but was the offense a A, B, or C. IF not a A what was missing. This is what is being debated. The idea here is to rate the offense and tell why. Obviuosly the D got a A. But seems like the poll for O is a B, WHY?????

the passing game sucked and the run blocking could have been better... they were both good enough though.

I see what you're saying, but I think it's just been a long offseason and we're jumping all over every little detail right now. Things will simmer down.
