And if there ever was a cap again, this deal would totally and monstrously screw us over.

No FA signings to help the o-line or OLB? I just think that forces us to rely very heavily on the draft i.e. basically getting two starters in the 1st and 2nd or 1st and 3rd rounds? I like the idea but man that requires our FO to do much better scouting than we've shown in a long time.

There could still be other signings. This is a lot of space we're working with here.

Nothing is more front-loaded than a signing bonus, from the player's perspective. The Bucs can do something ridiculous and give him a 40 million dollar roster bonus payable in 2009, and the Skins could match with their own 40 million SB, which gets prorated over the first 5 years of the deal.

Except because they are the Redskins, they'd structure it so he gets $20 million in 2009 and $20 million in 2010, both bonuses, fully guaranteed. The net cap result in 2009 is 4 million prorated SB plus his salary (likely 2-3 million). Albert gets 40 million to spend, the Skins put it on the books as six million.

Meanwhile, Tampa has it on the books as 40 million in 2009 (in this pie in the sky scenario).

Haynesworth sees it as the same money, and signs where he wants to play (in this case, here).

Ok i got it... how do we know big Al is partial to the B & G over Tampa?

Don't know where I heard it, but I heard today that Suisham's 1.0 tender has been offered and accepted. I'll see if I can dig up a link.

BTW, that Tampa scenario is a total pie in the sky scenario. A 40 million roster bonus is totally unheard of. The larger point is this: if we let Hall test the market, there's no way Tampa could outbid us for Haynesworth. They simply don't have the market size to write a check in excess of 35 million tomorrow. Before this cap adjustment, we probably couldn't have done so legally, but that's all changed now.

I'd say Haynesworth is pretty much a lock now. If I were asked to pick between Canty and Hall, I'd choose Canty no doubt. Canty would mean no Evans though.

I would agree wholeheartedly. There's no other explanation for why the Redskins would seek to clear so much space by restructuring Samuels, Carter, Randle El, and Griffin.

I think the Redskins front office new the cap would be going up to 127 because they have access to league wide revenue data and can easily project the cap number based on revenue sharing rules.

They cleared space beyond the cap limit boost through restructures. That was done purposely for one reason, landing a big fish or two.

I'm so confident in it that I'm almost ready to go buy an authentic Haynesworth jersey.

And, admittedly, the higher cap drives up the price for Haynesworth. So Schneeds' figure is probably a little low in my opinion, since 6/100 appears to be a reality. But if only 35 million gets guarenteed, it's only about 7.5 mil on the 2009 cap still.

If you verify this GTripp I am going to throw myself down some stairs. I would rather bring back Ola Kimrin instead of this ass hat.

Ass hat? A new phrase for me I guess. Ass clown maybe? U can also say he has rectal-cranial inversion, which is personally my favorite to use around the office.
