What about the O-line 44ever 01-03-2009, 03:57 PM Jacobs would probably make a good tackle or guard....... Neither would be worth a damn if we don't address our NEEDS up front! Jacobs is a great back. I never said we should go after him as I am well aware of our O line situation. Just said I'd like to have him in the back with Portis. Thanks Skins n Vols 01-03-2009, 04:42 PM I'm sure Suggs will be franchised by Baltimore, although he would be a great replacement for Marcus Washington. I'm afraid Haynesworth will be like a Dana Stubblefield and fall off once he signs a fat contract. We need to build the O-line and D-line through the draft, although I'd love to see us make a run at Jordan Gross- he's an absolute beast. Sproles would be a great change of pace back along with CP, as well as a bonafide return threat (something we haven't had in awhile). If we could get rid of aging vets on the O-line like Kendall and Jansen, add one through FA like Gross and another through the draft (Oher, Monroe, Ciron Black) and then throw in a change of pace back such as Sproles, I think our offense could be substantially improved in '09. tryfuhl 01-03-2009, 05:06 PM I'm sure Suggs will be franchised by Baltimore, although he would be a great replacement for Marcus Washington. Nice post Skins n Vols and welcome to the board! I have the same reservations about Haynesworth. Defensewins 01-03-2009, 05:30 PM If we pick up a Free Agent OL, we should not break the bank. We should not pick up any pricey FA. If these guys are not expensive.... 1) Jason Brown (Ravens) 6'3" 320 pounds-Possesses a great blend of quickness and explosiveness off the ball. Price? 2) Mark Tauscher (Green Bay) 6'3" 316-Good player but will be too expensive. 3) Stacy Andrews (Bengals) 6'7" 345- Serious right knee injury in Game 15, Dec. 21 at Cleveland. Only 28. Plays RT. 4) Mike Goff (Chargers) 6'5" 311 pounds. A bit old at 32, but can still play. If price is right, would be ok. Not ideal. WaldSkins 01-03-2009, 05:35 PM Id like to keep Kendall for atleast one more season, he still could serve some good on the line. Defensewins 01-03-2009, 05:47 PM I have always liked Correll Buckhalter, UFA, Philadelphia Eagles. He is a good #2 RB. GusFrerotte 01-03-2009, 05:50 PM WE need O line before D line. I would love to get Suggs and Haynesworth, but it was our D that kept this team from going 6-10. Our O line is old and getting decrepit. IF we had the line we had a few years ago we would have probably been in the playoffs, but now they are all injury prone. I still say use the draft a bit more than FA. You can get kids that are cheaper and have them around for the standard 4 year deal, and if they develop you have yourself a great line to build a real team around. WaldSkins 01-03-2009, 05:58 PM i dont care who we sign as long as there under 30 years old |
