Observation on Campbell

How doesn't that make any sense? Teams figured out that our offense revolved around Portis so they stacked the line to stop the run and forced us to pass. So if they are selling out to stop the run, we gotta pass. Guess what we can't do????

Portis's decline is a direct result of not having a passing game.

I'd argue it had more to do with his injuries the OL breaking down.

they knew our offence revolved around Portis from day one. Stacking the line didn't stop Portis his injuries did and injured he was still able to penetrate. Plus we had no trouble passing earlier in the season when Portis was healthy. So you're argument makes no sense.

I understand there are Skin fans out there that have given up on JC. You're perfectly entitled and you may prove to be correct. I was only giving Davy my perspective as to why we were sucsessful passing the first part of the season but not the later.

Of course it does, the whole offense including both the passing and running games suffered this year by the lack of an offensive line. If you look up a few posts i was disagreeing with the poster in which he was talking about Portis having a poor year which lead to Campbells poor year. If anything it was the other way around. Truly the offensive line was the main culprit in a poor showing on offense in the second half of the season.

Im just not big on pouring blame on Portis, who i think is the hardest working player on the team.

JC is from the south. He has a laid back attitude about everything. We have to take the good with the bad. With this laid back attitude you get a calm collected pocket passer who does not get flustered. ...the bad is he's laid back and not in panick mode when we are 2 scores down with 3 min. left in the game.

The question is which do you want? the panicky QB who sometimes throws interceptions....Romo, or would you rather have the calm collected QB who controls the ball JC? Sometime teams get lucky and get the in between type of QB ie; Brady, Payton Manning, and Farve.

nobody here is pouring blame on Portis. On the contrary, I was showing what a big part of our offence Portis is and how without him affects JC as well as the offence as a whole

I tend to think that, unless you have an elite passer, the inability to run the ball pretty much destroys any possibility of passing the ball. But, it sounds like you graduated from the Andy Reid "you pass to set up the run" school of football.

This is a little late to say now that the season is over...but its something thats been bugging me. Jason Campbell is slow in everything he does. When I watch him back in the pocket, he has no urgency to throw the ball; he takes forever to look look at his second or third target, he has a slow release on the ball, he doesnt drop back quickly, and hes not that fast of a runner (and the worst slider Ive ever seen...seriously its not that hard). I think he's got an OK arm (good strength, not so good acuracy), seems to make OK decisions when he throws the ball, but makes too many non decisions due to his slow processing. I really dont think this guy can get the job done and we need to get someone who can.

I think it's funny how people say the run has to set up the pass, especially when NE showed last yr the pass can set up the run. I truely believe it depends on what the strength of the team is. If you are good at passing then pass will set up the run. If you are good at running then run will set up the pass. Teams have to figure out how to stop what your doing. When they stop one aspect of your game then it's time to utilize the other. Our problem was we were a strong run team which meant we had to set up the pass but we had no passing game. During games when teams moved everyone within 10 yrds of the line of scrimage was when we needed to pass and couldn't. Everyone figured it out by week 7.

i have an idea. lets mega merge all the Campbell threads, and then lock them. whatever needs to be said, has already been said( 1000 times over)

Only if we can reopen the Brunnell/Ramsey and Arrington threads. I mean, you gotta give value to get value.
