53 Fan - I remember a while back in 2006 that there were issues about the secondary and the safeties and corners were having separate meetings and often were not on the same page - although injuries played a big part in effecting the defense that year.

Don't most teams have one secondary coach to begin with anyway? I think the only reason we got 2 coaches back in the secondary is that this was carried forward from the time when Joe Gibbs came in and hired a ton of coaches and all types of assistants and seemed pretty overkill as to the amount of coaches on the team. Wouldn't having one secondary coach make more sense anyway?

yeah i remember there was a time when some skins fans wanted gray gone for lack of production. that was when double G utitlized the 10-15 yard cb cushion we all hated so much. although i think the cushion idea was double G's to make up for all those long passes we were giving up that year with arch deluxe and his fill ins not getting the job done.

either way, gray has done a great job this year and seems to have a good relationship with his players and that is something i would not want to see change. we need the players to believe in their coaches and the secondary seems to believe in gray. i hope he doesnt go but i wouldnt hold it against him to further his career by striking while the iron is hot.

go skins!!

Jackson is the coach for the safetys only. Gray for the DB's. As far as I know it's standard to have one coach for the DB's and one for the safties. The Giants do, and probably the rest of the league also. On a side note I just heard on ComCast that the Redskins have denied the Houston Texans permission to talk to Gray about the DC job in Houston, saying he was still under contract to us. His agent is saying the Redskins do not have the right to stop him from talking to Houston. It's gonna get interesting.

That's a strange move by the Skins. I thought you could only prevent a team from contacting a coach for a lateral move. If Houston wants him as DC how can the Redskins stop them unless they name Gray assistant DC or something?

It is a strange move and his agent is saying the same thing. I just heard it briefly on ComCast. I have a feeling we'll hear alot more very soon.

I guess he will be considered as our DC after next season.

Thanks SFRedskin. That's good news! Let's hope it sticks. Grey should be our DC if were going to get things moving in the right direction

honestly id rather blache leave now rather than working year to year retiring at any moment, and promote gray to DC. I want someone who can hold down that coordinator spot for years to come, not be gone in a year. not going to happen obviously just my 2 cents
