Kelley supports this rationale with numbers analysis...
Rivals High - Arkansas coach punts traditional game plan (http://highschool.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=892888)

Good for this guy. While the punt can be a smart strategic play, I'll never understand how it became the standard 4th down play call. It's much easier to win games with four downs than three. The team that punts is basically handicapping himself.
I'd like to see the punt head the way of the drop kick, but that's not happening in my lifetime.

In high school not punting might not be a big deal but at the college and pro level every 4th down not converted will more likely than not result in points for the other team (especially you your side of the field). On top of that you got to go out there and score in the face of deficit and lack of momentum.

Smart man. I read this on Yahoo News earlier.
I agree with some of that strategy but not too much.
Oh yeah, and Merry Christmas all.
I wonder if he plays a lot of Madden.

this still confounds me a little bit. I like the dude's guts though. You know everyone in the state coaching against him hates his guts.

I would not be surprised if Zorn were to try this, upon news of his a$$ being on the hot seat again 8 games into the season....lol

I was thinking that too...but I still occasionally punt on Madden when Campbell gets sacked for a huge loss on 3rd down. :D
I like this coach though. I'd love to see one of their games.
