This will be a celebration of life for a great man that touched so many and made the game of football what we know it to be today. A TRUE pioneer! You will be missed but never forgotten. May GOD rest your soul and be with the family in there time of deep sorrow and need. A TRUE REDSKIN LEGEND IS IN THE LORD'S HOUSE NOW! An article I read earlier just this year and bookmarked it after the read. Due to SB's ailing health at the time when reading. PennSkinsFan 12-18-2008, 12:33 AM What a legend, by far, the Greatest Washington Redskin of all time. A tremendous loss to the franchise history. Rest in peace Slingin SammY! You lived a good, long life. sportscurmudgeon 12-18-2008, 01:00 AM I only saw him play one time - - I was a kid about 7 or 8 years old. But I read about him many, many times. Prayers and sympathy go out to his family... RIP. LBrown43 12-18-2008, 01:04 AM He gave quarterbacks a purpose in the blossoming NFL and to imagine a 3 way player these days is just unthinkable. He was the Gretzsky, Jordan and Tiger of his time and the NFL owes him a huge debt of graditude. Watching his form in the old films, it is amazing to think he was the innovator of the forward pass. What would football be without it? God bless you "Slinging Sammy".....all Redskins fans thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. |
