Running Mike Sellers twice at the goal line when you have one of the NFLs leading rushers was the stupid act of the game. Zorn was clearly sending a signal to Portis and that signal was costly to the redskins. Zorn owns that assinine decision.

There is a two fold problem here. Zorn has lost the team, and Cerrato has formed a rather weak talented team.

Portis is horrible in goal line situations....look at the past 4 years.

Portis is the heart of this team! just a few weeks ago, everyone was singing his praises...now this. Does anyone know how to be loyal to their team? His numbers speak for itself. Talk trash about someone else...but not the guy who produces more than anyone else on this team. He and London Fletcher are immune to me from all the bs. Talk about cooley, sellers, or someone else for a change.

He's much better than Sellers though.

You're not a fan of Portis, we get it. He's not immune to blame but as the offensive line goes so does he. I agree with him now when he blasted the OL earlier in the year. They do suck.

No trash talk...just my opinion from watching every game of his Maroon and Black career.

Is this a serious thread? CP is the least of our concerns. Where were you during the first half of the year? So, 6 weeks w/ a injured CP, an injured offensive line will cause you lose sight of a top NFL Rb?

This thread is angry! People who post here are angry! People who read posts here become angry! And now I'm angry! I don't know why, but I'm angry!

Portis is a diva, and he hasn't broken a game breaking run since I can't remember. Regardless, w/out CP we aren't even 4-10 right now. He is a viscious blocker, a good (if not spectacular) runner who almost always seems to get positive yards (he is averaging 4.6 yd/att), a better receiver than given credit for, and is admired by all for his toughness. He is, by far, the best player on the team and is only 27 years old.

Irrespective of the salary cap issues, if the Skins were to cut him, they might as well blow the team up entirely because that is what they would effectively be doing. Portis gives us the chance (next year) to be a real contender. If someone were to offer us a boat load of draft choices and players (see: Hershel Walker), maybe. Even then, we would look like KC does now for a couple of years.

Bottom line - Portis is an asset and a valuable one.

I will give it to Portis..... he played great the first 7 games of the season.

I agree.... my point is that it seems like Portis is the only guy immune to the critics.

Everyone seems to think he is the lone bright spot, I disagree.

My critique of Portis doesn't encompass just this season, I'm talking about his whole career as a Skin. And I know he has great numbers, something just seems to be missing.

but you are right, $20 million guaranteed....he isn't going anywhere.

Immune from critics? You mean critics who would, hypothetically of course, accuse him of dogging practice? Critics (again hypothetically) say his dress up routine was a distraction? Critics (more hypotheticals of course) who are former players and current radio announcers who take him to task on the air?

As for his whole career as a Skin - you must be referring to 2005 when he literally carried the team into the playoffs on his legs.

Something missing? Every opponent that I have heard speak of him calls him one of the most complete backs in the league, compliments him on his ability & toughness, and speaks with almost awe about his vicious blocking.

CP is not, has not been and never will be an elusive back. He is power and
speed (yes, speed). He has been unable to use his speed much because the line cant create holes that let him get to the second level untouched and, with defenses keying on him, he rarely gets into a true "open field".

"Missing something"?? Yes, he is missing Adrian Peterson's line that would give him holes that allow him to get to the second level. He is missing a passing game that will shake the defense loose from keying on him.

If his performance has not been the "lone bright spot", it certainly has been a bright spot.
