Sellers is a nice option out of the backfield, but he actually stinks in short yardage. When he gets down there he suddenly decides that, despite weighing 285 pounds, he is going to channel Walter Payton and try to leap over the top. He never built of the "head of steam" you mention because he jumped from about two yards behind the LOS. He's a great blocker, does a nice job catching passes out of the backfield, but simply is not good near the goal line. Bad call, two times in a row, give it to your best players (i.e. Portis) and try to get it in. Maybe try Sellers once, but certainly not two times in a row.
I had deja-vu of the giants game last year with Betts, but I have to admit that I liked the play call, Sellers just didn't execute it well. O yeah, our sorry ass line has as much to blame as Sellers for not getting in the end zone.

your right about that, he did do alil torpedo low-to-the-ground type leap about a yard or two back . . . i guess the point i was trying to make is that if a mike sellers doing a torpedo dive thing into the wall of D players didnt move them back, nothing would have. what would portis have done differently? there was a wall of defenders, sellers tried to go thru them and that didnt work. but yeah 2 times in a row kinda hurts, no argument there.

Smootsmack:
You know what we need here? We need a good debate on whether or not to replace Jim Zorn with Gregg Williams once Williams is fired in Jax. That would be fun... :bdh:
OfficeLinebacker:
If Rock were fast enough, he would have put that runback in the end zone and that would have changed things a bit. Rock plays hard but does not have the kind of break away speed to be a top-shelf returner in the NFL.
Moss's penalty was a "no-brainer call" by the officials. If you use a prop as part of your celebration, then the officials use a yellow flag as their prop and march off 15 yards. Zorn said Moss didn't know the rule. That alone would qualify Moss as a meathead. :censored:
If you want to prevent that kind of nonsense, then the rule for the team needs to be simple and unversally applied: celebrate a TD such that the team gets a 15-yard penalty and you sit out for 4 quarters of football. That would stop the nonsense...
However, do you think Danny Boy would allow that rule to be enforced once one of his high-paid divas went to him and complained about having to sit out? Me neither. :(
