If you'd like to start a spread sheet sometime in Jan 09 regarding the predictions people here make about who will be signed by the Redskins in free agency and then match it against reality, you'll find the batting average is pretty low - - not good enough to bet in the Baseball HoF. I'm not talking about people saying who they would LIKE to sign; I'm talking about predictions about what the team will do.

PFT is mainly a clearing house - - but they do break stuff once in a while and for an operation that is ever so slightly smaller than ESPN and FOX Sports, that would indicate to me that they do have some sources of their own.

Regarding current stuff, PFT is providing a far more in depth and understandable analysis of the StarCaps case than you will find at ESPN sites or at FOX sites. They are probing Ed Werder's story about the Cowboys intrigues looking to identify the source; Werder and ESPN aren't doing that.

PFT "broke" and followed through on the "Chris Landry plaigiarism" business.

PFT's coverage of the lawsuit by retired NFL players against the NFLPA and the subsequent findings about the NFLPA assets has been far better and far more extensive than anywhere else I've seen.

PFT was all over the story of the Rooney brothers being involved in gambling interests - - in violation of NFL rules -- long before that story got any national attention.

That list is off the top of my head, so there could well be some other "gems" in their postings over the past couple of months.

I am NOT saying that PFT is all good or that it is "THE place to go for NFL news". It is not. But to say that everything they post there is fabricated nonsense is simply not the case. And that is what many folks here say...

PFT does break some juicy news every once and a while. And I agree they have done a good (but pretty longwinded) job of covering the StarCaps case.

The Chris Landry plagarism bit- I found that to be ridiculously self-serving on PFT's part. Especially when they did a live blog covering the Landry interview that addressed said plagarism. IMO their entire coverage was an attempt to publicly discredit another NFL related news site, and Florio is so pompous, I certianly wouldn't put that past him. Did anyone really know who Chris Landry was prior to this case? Does anyone care who Chris Landry is now that this story is out? Come on.

Most media outlets focus far too much on the negative nowadays, but PFT takes it to the extreme. Florio rarely says anything positive about any player or team, and if he does, it usually involves some backhanded compliment or sarcastic joke. I find PFT to be a mocking, arrogant, unf-ingbelievably negative site.

And Florio does make it a regular practice to throw as much shit against the wall as possible with the hope that a high % of it sticks. I think it's funny how someone can be so amazingly skeptical, negative, and critical of players, coaches, and the league that ultimately results in him getting a paycheck and having a career.

CP has had a great season but I dont think he's the home run hitter he should be considering his salary. The stats say he's starting to fade as he just cant break any long runs anymore. If memory serves he's one of two players without a run of over 30 yds this season.

Which is kind of weird, because I believe he's close to, if not the leader in runs over 20 yards this year. He's an elite RB and I think he's got another year or 2 of being able to maintain that label. But for someone who turned 27 less than 3 months ago, he's taken a serious pounding during his career. Unfortunately he's a RB who I don't believe will last too far past 30 in this league.

Personally I just want to win, and when you're not winning you get all this kind of garbage. If your Pop Warner team start loosing the parents will be up in the stands at each others throats. Therefore, show me what you got on Sunday. And start by beating the crap out of the Bengals. Period. If we don't start winning soon I too am going to snap on the John Thompson show.:)

I've yet to see an offensive set this year that included Portis and Betts in the backfield at the same time. I bet that'd be real effect. I keep waiting on the offense to do something different (use the no huddle when it's not the 2 minute drill, run that wildcat set every now and then, put Cooley at fullback and Sellers at tight end) or anything else. There's no excuse for us to suck on offense like we do.

I really Like Dan Snyder, whether I agree with every move he's made or not. I think he really wants to win, and I’m good with that. Snyder spends money on the team. Jack Kent Cooke also wanted to win. I'm also fickle just like my boy Snyder. So Zorn, either you win or you're fired.

Not to blame Gibbs, but he wasn't a confrontational type.. and always gave the players credit and put the blame on himself. Some of the guys on the team are hearing something that they haven't in years, since they were on other teams, or maybe in college.. but most guys seem to be doing the right thing by keeping their mouths shut about it.

Ditto. After the mentoring CP had from Gibbs he's still all about "me." He's not a team guy and after everything - Gibbs, losing Sean, having the whole franchise behind him - I don't expect him to ever change. Would really like to see him traded, but not too hastily. We need to get max value and add to our draft in a big way (since we're already w/o a 2nd rounder). We really needed to draft another RB anyway w/ Rock on the decline and Betts pushing 30, so trading CP is a great move IMHO.

Except that we can't trade him because his 2009 salary is already guarenteed, and he's got a guarenteed bonus coming in 2010 as well. Basically, whether he is or is not on the team, the Redskins are already on the hook to pay him like a top RB through 2010. So might as well keep him happy.
