30gut 12-11-2008, 02:53 AM What steps would you take between now and opening day 2009 to improve this team?
What would you do?
this season:
o Assess wether Chris Wilson or Rob Jackson could be an answer at DE
Off Season:
o Add some WCO coaches or assistants to the staff to help Zorn and Sherman mold their version of the WCO. QB Coach/ WR Coach/ Offensive Assistant
o Get younger and improve the offensive line: i would let Thomas and Jansen go: LT Samuels LG Kendall C-Rabach RG-Rinehart RT-Rookie draft pick also draft a mid-round C/G
o Get younger more explosive *I know this won't happen but: shop Portis for draft picks or shop Betts and Cartwright for draft picks; Draft a 'speed back' 3rd down/PR/KR
o See if you can get a draft pick for Todd Collins; then sign a cheap WCO back-up
o Draft a project(late round) FB
o Ask Jason Taylor to retire and maybe ask Phillip Daniels (depending on the cap hit)
o Draft a DE
o Release Marcus Washington; where's Gatewood again?; Draft a SAM backer
o Release Springs unless he's willing to make his contract more friendly if so release Smoot
o Re-sign Hall hope he gives us the home town discount
o Draft a cornerback project
o Sign a (cheap) journeyman S or draft a project S

DarkKnight 12-12-2008, 04:39 PM Any names? When I think "elite centers" nobody really pops into my mind. Jeff Saturday I always liked but that guys been locked in with the Colts for like ever.
Yea. Here is a link. 2009 NFL Free Agents (http://www.footballsfuture.com/freeagents.html)
Matt Birk, UFA, Minnesota Vikings
T.J. Houshmandzadeh, UFA, Cincinnati Bengals
Nnamdi Asomugha, UFA, Oakland Raiders
Albert Haynesworth, UFA, Tennessee Titans
Now. we probably won't get Asomugha, that be a stretch, but these other 3 we can get, now Birk, wont come with a large contract, a respectable on yeah, but way better than what we got, T.J. is a good guy, no problems and is probably the best WR on his team now ( I take Chad for a 3rd or 4th rounder) and do even got say why we need Haynesworth, but I be willing to trade players away to make money room for these guys, on my trading list if I was owner:
Moss
Washington
Springs
Smoot
R.Thomas
ARE
It would free up big money to sign these guys we draft a nice OLB draft some nice OL and DL. I would change our D to a 3-4, just cause it so hard to know who is coming.
with T J the #1 then Thomas and kelly can battle for #2 with Cooley, and Portis our ol is Samuels, Kendall, Birk, Jansen, Heyer,
our Defense:
Carter, Haynesworth, Taylor
McIntosh, Fletcher, Blades, Rookie OLB, and you know the DB's already
Hall, Rogers, Landry, Horton.
but this is what I would do, I am just feeling the holes where we are weak, I dont think we will go after anyone, except Haynesworth.

We can't trade away Moss and EL
DarkKnight 12-12-2008, 10:16 PM We can't trade away Moss and EL
Yea we can.....
htownskinfan 12-12-2008, 10:41 PM Tell Portis to keep his mouth shut, dont air dirty laundry in public
Give Betts more carries
next 3 games I want to run the offense out of the shotgun as much as possible
Bring in Mike vanderget for a tryout
Get Fred Davis on the field, why the hell did we draft him?
Run more trick plays
Incorporate ARE into offense more, either as a passer or Slash type player ala Kordell
Take ARE off punt returns
Try a different blitz scheme, the one baltimore tried on us worked pretty good, ours never do
Paintrain 12-12-2008, 11:16 PM Out-Suisham, Washington, Taylor, Kendall, Jansen, Collins, Thrash
In-Dansby or Vilma, Mike Nugent, drafted DE, DT, OT, return specialist (Justin Miller or Allen Rossum?, Batch
On field personnel moves-Replace ARE and Rock on returns, move Landry full time to SS so he can play near the line, Springs full time to FS, resign Hall, starting WR are Moss, Kelly, ARE in the slot
Off field-Replace Bugel, Danny Smith, Hixon

Springs and full time don't belong in the same sentence. He's not 100%, probably can't play.....forget about it. More like Springs is replaced by Hall.
And Horton and LL are just fine, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
30gut 12-13-2008, 03:15 AM Hire this guy:
Jim Hueber
Title: Assistant Offensive Line Coach
Vikings : Coach Profile (http://www.vikings.com/TeamCoachProfile_Jim_Hueber.aspx)
Jim Hueber will look to help the Vikings offense build on their record-setting season on the ground as he enters his 3rd season with the team and his 35th in coaching in 2008
The senior member of the 2008 Vikings coaching staff is Assistant Offensive Line coach Jim Hueber, who enters his 35rd season of coaching and his 3rd in the NFL.
Ruhskins 12-13-2008, 04:04 AM So, now its not blasphemous to role play what if I ran the redskins??????????
What about the beloved Snyder?? Does this scenario have a peacefully transistion in ownership??
I saw another thread started regarding should the skins move to DC.
I hope its just not when my thoughts on those matters are examined with hostility but that people can now discuss those safely.
Are you like WP's own T.O.?
53Fan 12-13-2008, 04:18 AM  That's funny.
