over the mountain 12-10-2008, 03:58 PM ^^^ yeah im starting to wish Cp wouldnt go on the JT show anymore. he always talks himself into trouble.
in '06 did he bash gibbs on the same leadership & communications issues on JT's show?
did he throw the oline under the bus on the JT show earlier this year?
obviously he had his blow up with b mitch on the show, that one i know for certain.
now he bashes zorn for leadership and communication issues on the JT show.
water under the bridge really, just portis playing to that underappreciated "i think im the best rb in the league" persona he has as others have said here.
when TO tries to play offensive coordinator in the media hes a team cancer, when Cp does it hes just telling it like it is . . . portis isnt paid to be a PR rep for the skins, hes paid to run a pig skin into a bunch of pissed off psychos. lol we have soo much drama when a losing streak hits.
Miller101 12-10-2008, 04:09 PM I disagree. The Coach is your boss. He can say what he wants. You are getting paid to play and if you don't like it then quit. If you can't handle it, then find a different occupation. And I still don't see what Zorn said in the statement above that was so bad.
And how do you know that Portis was in all the meetings? Because Portis says so?
He can say what he wants, but if he says it publicly about you and not to you....................that is wrong! And if that does happen to you, you should stick up for yourself! You shouldn't let yourself become a bitch! Stick up for yourself and say/ do something about it.
Maybe Portis could have handled it differently. Maybe he could have pulled that stunt Greg Vaughn pulled in Major League when he thought he was cut! He kept it in the lockerroom! :)
Hey! Maybe Zorn should have handled it differently too. In fact, I know he should have! The last thing you want to do, when your dumbass puts a back up center out there to block Terrell Suggs one-on-one, is blame someone else about something else! And then wonder why your best player is pissed off.........................
GTripp0012 12-10-2008, 04:17 PM I mean, I have to point out that Portis missed at least two blocks against the Giants that could have turned the game around in our favor, so when Zorn says that he felt Betts was better prepared against the Ravens, I'm inclined to believe him.
Why is it that whenever anyone tries to trust Ladell Betts, people on both the inside and the outside get really pissed off?
GTripp0012 12-10-2008, 04:21 PM Portis is also implying, I think, that Zorn's protection schemes are too numerous and complicated. Which is fine for him to think that, but that's kinda evidence to support Zorn's reasoning for keeping Portis out of the game when all the Skins were going to do was throw. Because if Portis thinks that Zorn's schemes are unnecessarily complicated, that probably does mean that Betts has a better understanding of them.

What did Zorn say about Portis that was so bad that warranted what Portis did? He was asked why Portis didn't play in the second half and he answered honestly. He didn't go out of his way to say anything about Portis and what he said was the truth according to him. The fact was that they were down 17-0 and he felt maybe Betts was better prepared since Betts had actually practiced all week with the first team offense and attended all the meetings. Sorry but that doesn't warrant a personal attack by Portis. If he can't handle that reply from Zorn then he sure couldn't play for Cowher who people here seem to be so high on and who would not put up with his egocentric attitude. He would be riding the pine this week if he had pulled that with Cowher.
skinsqc 12-10-2008, 04:32 PM Are problem is at quaterback. same team last year struggling to win there was 1 plAYER CHanged after the bears game ,offense started scoring points went on a 5 game winning streak and made the playoffs.Colt brennan will be the starter next year i hope.

i agree with everything except portis wouldnt be riding the pine, cowhers chin would grow a fist and clock CP. that or cowher would walk up to cp with that great "furious" look he has with veins popping and pulsating from his forehead and portis would be calling everyone and the ball boy "sir" for a few weeks.
this offseason when things are slow we should do a top ten best "coach's faces" thread with pics.

Ya Cowher's head looked like it was ready to explode at any minute when he would get that irrate on the sidelines. I have never seen veins stick out so much as they did on him.
tryfuhl 12-10-2008, 08:44 PM I hate to be an a-hole but Portis has more than earned the right to air his stuff out. I imagine he had something to say during the game, not just after it.
"Zorn said Portis' lack of practice was starting to reflect in the running back's performance -- particularly in the passing game. So the coach went with backups Ladell Betts (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=3584) and Mike Sellers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=1686)."
What do you expect? He's getting beat the hell up, he needs to rest, he shows up on Sundays where a lot of guys wouldn't. Portis is the light at the end of the tunnel when it comes down to it. Anyone who's highly competitive and good at what they do will have severe frustrations when things aren't going right.. and he's FAR from a T.O., faaaarrrrrr from it. So yeah, these issues should be channeled correctly, but knowing that someone is genuinely frustrated and wants even more of a load on their shoulders, that's refreshing. Oh well, he called out coach, it's not Gibbs.. it's not a "good ol boy" league anymore, we're lucky that Portis still calls himself a Redskins and wants to stay with us, will restructure, etc.. The boy deserves a ring.
53Fan 12-11-2008, 01:33 AM So Portis has earned the right to be selfish and be a distraction to the team now? Give me a freakin break. It's not about Portis it's about the TEAM. Anyone else pulls the shit he does they're riding the pine until they're shipped out. Portis is a warrior but he'll throw his teammates or coach under the bus if he does'nt feel like he's getting enough attention. I love the way the guy plays but undermining the coaches decisions and authority in public is hardly contributing to the success of the team. He seems to forget that we did pretty well without him when he was hurt a couple of years ago and Betts took his place. He's a great player but he's not indispensable. I'd like to see what we could get for him in trade while he's hot to be honest. He's been treated like a prima donna since he's been here and he probably has less to complain about than any other player. We laugh at T.O. when he pulls this kind of crap and it's okay for Portis? Get real.
