After that effort today the answer might be becoming quite clear. There's no quit in a team that gets down 17-0 and then comes back to basically tie the game.
It's unfortunate that the call got overturned and later we fumbled, because we had basically done all the work it takes to get back in the game. But even the fumble was a bad call because Sellers was clearly stopped for two or three seconds before they blew the whistle and ruled touchback. Great job, morons. Way to play it off like you didn't screw up either.
Remember, our offense only got into trouble when we tried to rely on the running game. Our passing game had it's way with them. They had no pressure on Campbell, and he picked the intermediate zones apart.

I said yes.
This team has essentially played 2 good games...both in the first month.
We struggled but won after that, then struggled and lost by a score after that.
Then we started blowing critical NFC East games and we got dominated a few times on national TV...can it get worse....sure....at least we'll never get beat by the Bengals......
OOPS.
This team has been progressively getting worse since the first quarter was over.
Why were we good early on?
1 of 2 possibilities.
1...new playcalling, no one had film on us.
2...perhaps our team had Gibbs guts carrying over from last year.
Bottom line, this team isn't incredibly talented.
Yes we have Portis, Moss and Fletcher but thats it.
The only way to make a team with average talent win is by exceptional coaching.
I don't see that right now....therefore, Zorn may be in trouble...expecially if we don't win another game which is a good possibility.
I really think he'll get another season, if for no other reason, so Danny can keep the haters down.
"Gibbs Guts" -- I like that.
How about possibility #3: The most crucial part of any offense, the O-line, had peaked, began to get hit with injuries to aging players whose skills were starting to diminish anyway, and due to front office neglect, they had nobody waiting in the wings to step up.
You still count Santana Moss as 'incredible talent'? Honestly I don't know what there is to see about him anymore.
It's funny that his pathetic endzone celebration was shining shoes. That's about all he's been good for since 2005.

This is when your veteran players leadership comes into play. Guys like Fletcher, Samuels, etc. need to tell the malcontents to get with the program or get the **** out!!
Agreed 100%.

what was up with the shoe thing? I could see doing that on a wining team that was killing a loser team like Cincy but we were down 17 points and sucking wind, Moss is embarrassing.

Firing the coach is not going to get our lines to play better.
Actually, it may.
Gibbs adjusted his playcalling to provide max protect.
Our same line last year was considered a strength....hmmm....
That is the difference in a hall of fame coach and a rookie....adjustments.

I think Zorn might have worked since he inherited a decent team at the time. Now to ask this virgin head couch to rebuild a whole franchise, I think you are asking too much of him. Here is where you need a Cower type person who couches and does front office. Vinny needs to go. IF we are going to change gears do it right after the season give Cower or who ever enough time to evaluate the draft and FA.

I'd say a team has quit when it gets down 17-0 to the Bengals in the first place.

I think Blache and Bugel will almost definitely retire (remember Blache wanted to at the end of last season). Hixon, Smith, and probably Palermo will be let go. Gray will move up to DC. Olivadotti will take over the line or possibly special teams. Jim Lind comes over from the Seahawks to take over Buge's spot.
Smootsmack...
This is ballsy speculation...I will hold you to this.
Blache AND Bugel retire?
Wow.
I can see smith and hixon being cut though...they have done a poor job

If it quit it wouldn't have scored 13 points. Bottom line, Sellers screwed up with that fumble.

If the running game was our strength and we ran the Gibbs system with the WCO on passing. Then the most logical choice would be to bring in Russ Grimm not the Seahawks OL coach. Why change the strength of your team with yet another running game system?
