SFREDSKIN 12-14-2008, 06:46 PM The big question is whether or not the team is quitting. Everything else is peripheral at this point. While I don't know the answer definitively, it has neither sounded nor looked good recently. It's easy to preach continuity and learning from Gibbs and all that, and I am inclined to agree to an extent, but bringing back a guy who is sure to face the same problems next season merely for continuity's sake is worse than firing someone too quickly.
Losing is one thing. But Zorn is currently captaining a full scale implosion. If the team loses out and the locker room continues to unravel and the playcalling continues to be impotent I don't understand how a change can not be on the table.
This is when your veteran players leadership comes into play. Guys like Fletcher, Samuels, etc. need to tell the malcontents to get with the program or get the **** out!!
SFREDSKIN 12-14-2008, 06:47 PM Who trades Champ Bailey? Decisions like these make no sence. He was the closest thing to Green we've had. Why are recievers returning punts? Why do we trade Thrash when he's great and get him back when he sucks? Why do we not have a line worthy to be called the Hogs. What's up with Alexander? On and on and on... I wonder why we suck?
Champ wanted out, it was the right thing to do.
Beemnseven 12-14-2008, 06:51 PM Champ wanted out, it was the right thing to do.
Not exactly. Champ would have stayed if Snyder opened up his wallet for him, but they couldn't have kept both Bailey and Lavar Arrington.
So they chose Lavar. What forsight.
SkinDogg 12-14-2008, 07:03 PM Colt Brennen will be the next redskins coach.
Colt Brennan, the new Babe Laufenberg.

dj I think u r seeing the forest through the trees for sure. I see everybody debating the importance of the record, debating how much leniency has to be given a rookie HC, etc etc. I don't want to say those are necessarily stupid things to talk about, but there importance is nil compared w/ that of Zorn's ability to lead a team. I believe it is painfully obvious he has lost this team w/ the exception of JC. To the novice fan's eye this offense plays like it detests being on the field. There's zero intensity w/ sporadic exceptions from Sellers, Portis and maybe Moss. (This includes JC - i understand he's never been Favrelike in his demeanor - but now his lack of passion/intensity is a liability IMHO for a team in desperate need of a leader).
Getting back to the big picture I don't think it's a stretch to say Zorn is the worst coach in the league right now. He has the luxury of concentrating almost solely on the offense because of Blache and yet we have had the absolute worst offense in football since the beginning of November (we've averaged about 10 points a game, which to my knowledge is the worst in football over that period of time.) What is critical is whether Zorn can begin to lead the team over the next two games. I don't care about winning/losing at this point. I am talking about whether he can get 11 guys on the field to play like professionals, in fact that's all we can hope for at this point. If Zorn cannot do that his status as an HC is unjustified. There is no reason to believe he'll be able to lead/motivate the same group of guys next year he failed to lead/motivate this year.
Twilbert07 12-14-2008, 07:04 PM Zorn proved today, by not having his team up for this critical game, that he's not ready to be a head coach in the NFL. How did you feel when Zorn was named head coach? I was shocked; it's like going to a guy you hired to be a manager and making him CEO. Snyder made a mistake, and he'll try to undo it ASAP. I bet he offers Cowher $10 million/year.
I know another major change sucks, but since it's bound to happen, why not now? As long as Danny is coach, change will be a constant with the Skins.
SFREDSKIN 12-14-2008, 07:11 PM Why is it that everyone blames Zorn and not the FO (Vinny) look at teams with rookie coaches and the men behind the scenes in the FO. Atlanta (Demetriov), Miami (Parcells), Baltimore (Newsome) and Washington (Cerrato). This is the difference. Dan Snyder if you are reading this board do us all a favor and fire Vinny or hire him as your chauffeur, butler, cook whatever, anything but GM of the Washington Redskins.

The front office holds a lot of blame, but Danny ain't going to fire his friends. And we're stuck with Danny. After this season, I'm not sure Zorn was ready even to be a offensive coordiator (though his play-calling is offensive ; )

Yeah, but there was plenty more to Champ's decision than just football.
On a separate note, I don't think we actually traded Thrash did we? Didn't he go as a free agent to Philly for some ridiculous contract?

If Zorn goes theirs no way Campbell is going to make it here. Everyone complains about JC but, every year he gets a new offense. You can'tchange the offense every year and expect it to get better.
