An Outlook Of Mediocrity

If the Skins aren't careful we could be in some serious trouble over the next few years.

Let me first say, that this isn't a knee jerk reaction. This is a reaction thru 13 games this year and an overall look at personell and results the last several years.

Let's look at our other division friends, NYG, Dallas, and to a lesser extent Philly. Good teams w/ young players around the Oline, Dline, and most importantly the QB positions. Not just good young players but depth at those positions. Just look around Dallas's Dline. The core of any team if in the trenches. Just look at Tenn, NYG, Pitts, Balt, etc. How far are we from the Ravens Dline? Worlds.

Yes, the NFL is fluid and who knows what can happen from year to year. We might slip into the playoffs this year. Is our team going anywhere though?

Hey, we can probably hover around average or above average for the next few years. Maybe even squeek into the playoffs a time or two. We can plug some players in here or there. We can be ok. Our other division foes are set up for at least several more. Us, we're consistently a patchwork, aging, core group of lineman. Well, maybe we can draft one or two this year but where will the others come from? We really need about 6 top picks to make up for our non-drafting recently.

This team needs some serious FO self scouting on all levels including FO decisions, Coaching, and Personel.

There's got to be a change for us to become better than ok. If it doesn't happen I'm just afraid we're going to be average for a long time. I'd rather be building towards something. I've seen enough mediocrity for 16 years.

6-2 sure looks like a mirage from where we sit today. Detroit started 6-2 last year, and I recall posting on this very forum that they were a fraud. The Skins are getting close to a similar complete collapse that the Lions had over the 2nd half. Perhaps the Colin Cowherds and Cris Carters were right about us after all.

consistent success in the nfl is a tough nut to crack . . we just have to keep trying which this franchise does. we've made moves, some have worked out some have not, and i hope past FA failures dont limit our interest to keep making moves in the future.

these tough times will only make success that much sweeter. this franchise is not a sit back and be content unit, we will not stop or spare any expense in trying to piece the puzzle together, for that i am thankful.

go skins!!
