Okay, so we're much better off in terms of playoff picture than we were at the beginning of the day. Go us! This of course assumes that we'll be able to field 11 guys on offense next week, which appears to be up in the air. If we have to play with 9, we'll only be a small favorite to beat the Bengals.

All playoff situations are based on the assumption that the Redskins will win their final three games. Probably a stretch to think we'll beat Philly at this point, but if we beat the Bengals by three, 90% of the people on this site will pick us to win. That's the way Skins fans are.

#1, everyone root for Tampa tomorrow night. It will give us the best chance to make the playoffs.

Teams that we need losses from to make the playoffs include 2 of the three: Carolina, Atlanta, and Dallas

We catch the Cowboys if they lose to either the Giants or the Eagles.

We catch the Falcons if they lose another game (Tampa, Minnesota, St. Louis)

We catch the Panthers if they lose to Tampa tomorrow night, and then lose two out of their final three games.

And we just need two out of the three to happen in order to pull off a wild card birth.

Basically, win out and were in.

The first two are a heck of a lot more likely.

Carolina is vs. Denver, and then @ Giants, and @ Saints to finish.

The Giants will beat them pretty easily. Denver and New Orleans both could beat them, and it's likely that one of them will.

I think were near-eliminated in all scenarios where we don't beat Philadelphia. I know for a fact that our best possible finish in the division is 3rd, so we would need Carolina to lose out (unlikely) and Atlanta to lose two out of three to have a shot (difficult, considering they play the Rams). Assuming that Philly doesn't lose to Cleveland (not happening) we would also need them AND the Giants to beat Dallas.

Basically, our chances of making the playoffs go from 80% if we go 3-0 and beat Philly, to about 15% if we simply take care of business against weaker opponents, but lose to a better Philadelphia team, finishing up at 9-7.

What about going 2-1 and beating Philly?

How about we get a win and then start this conversation.

This seems very much like last year, where we were counted out at the beginning of December, came back strong and got in. Like GTripp said, win out and we are in.
But, we all knew JG knew how to win in December, he had proved it beyond a shadow of a doubt. Last night's game did nothing to encourage me that the offense will find its spark.

Personally I think we had to win last night. It sucks to say it but I think the dream that once was the playoffs is now over for the Washington Redskins.

Last year we blew four games consecutively that we should have won. Even though we were 5-7 with four to play we could all argue plausibly that we should have been at worst 7-5. This year we are getting dominated down the stretch. The fact that it has been dominant defenses punching us in the mouth isn't much of a silver lining for me.
