Playoff Picture Update, Ravens Game AftermathSeasonTicketHolder 12-08-2008, 09:23 AM Nice, I was waiting for this kind of post.. So, you think we have a good shot, huh? hooskins 12-08-2008, 09:40 AM So, you think we have a good shot, huh? We are easily the best team in the NFL. But seriously, why can't we talk playoffs if it's still an option? I don't really get that. If people think it's bad luck then just ignore the thread and don't waste everyone's time by posting and telling people how they should think. At one point we had a chance to tie the game, even with how shitty we played. That gives me hope we can go 2-1 easily. As for Philly, we'll see. Who knows.... Twilbert07 12-08-2008, 09:51 AM We can talk all kinds of scenarios, but the one thing that doesn't seem to be happening is the number in our W column going up. Also, whether you like Campbell or not, he is 2-6 in December games and is on the decline this year, according to this from today's Washington Post: Campbell will also have to listen to another week of questions about the offense he leads. While virtually every offensive skill player has seen his numbers plummet during the team's 1-4 skid, Campbell's statistical regression has been stark. When Washington was 6-2, Campbell had eight touchdowns and zero interceptions. In the five games since, he's thrown three touchdowns and six interceptions, with all the interceptions coming in losses. Campbell averaged just 219 yards passing in the team's first eight games, but that number has dipped to 205 over his past five. Takeuon 12-08-2008, 10:18 AM What makes anyone even think we deserve to be in the payoffs. I personally don't! Even if we were to make it.....it will be the same result as last season. rypper11 12-08-2008, 12:54 PM Best possible scenario: The Cowboys will absolutely lose to the Ravens and probably the Giants. I wouldn't be surprised if they lose to Philly too. The Falcons will lose to at least the Bucs and possibly the Vikings (Peterson will run wild on them). Panthers lose to TB tonight (I'll be the biggest TB fan in the stands tonight), the Broncos next week and either the Giants or the Saints (giving us the better Conf record and thus the tie-breaker). They struggled against the Raiders, Lions and Packers and were blown out by the Falcons so losing all 4 wouldn't be surprising. Of course it's moot if we don't finish 10-6 but it gives me a reason to get excited and cheering for other teams to win (Go Bucs!). Don't be shocked if the last game of the season (4:15, Was at SF) settles the wildcards. SFREDSKIN 12-08-2008, 01:00 PM This is Jim Mora Sr. moment. Playoffs!! Playoffs!! Part of me doesn't want us to make it, save us the embarrassment of getting our asses kicked all over the field like the last couple of weeks. SUNRA 12-08-2008, 01:06 PM This seems very much like last year, where we were counted out at the beginning of December, came back strong and got in. Like GTripp said, win out and we are in. But, we all knew JG knew how to win in December, he had proved it beyond a shadow of a doubt. Last night's game did nothing to encourage me that the offense will find its spark. The difference from last year is that we had a QB step in and spark a fire in the offense that won five games straight. Jason Campbell hasn't proven that he can win by his performance alone. That's why even the playoffs were a real possibility, we would be one and done. MTK 12-08-2008, 01:14 PM The difference between this year and last isn't just on the QB. The OL was playing well at this time last year and the running game was really clicking too. Let's not think it was all on Collins. skinsfan69 12-08-2008, 01:17 PM Okay, so we're much better off in terms of playoff picture than we were at the beginning of the day. Go us! This of course assumes that we'll be able to field 11 guys on offense next week, which appears to be up in the air. If we have to play with 9, we'll only be a small favorite to beat the Bengals. All playoff situations are based on the assumption that the Redskins will win their final three games. Probably a stretch to think we'll beat Philly at this point, but if we beat the Bengals by three, 90% of the people on this site will pick us to win. That's the way Skins fans are. #1, everyone root for Tampa tomorrow night. It will give us the best chance to make the playoffs. Teams that we need losses from to make the playoffs include 2 of the three: Carolina, Atlanta, and Dallas We catch the Cowboys if they lose to either the Giants or the Eagles. We catch the Falcons if they lose another game (Tampa, Minnesota, St. Louis) We catch the Panthers if they lose to Tampa tomorrow night, and then lose two out of their final three games. And we just need two out of the three to happen in order to pull off a wild card birth. Basically, win out and were in. I just don't understand how anyone can talk playoffs when we can't win a game. We're simply not a playoff team. MTK 12-08-2008, 01:18 PM I think we'll go 9-7 but that won't be enough. |
