Do they ever let Campbell call the plays on his own?

I plead ignorance guys, so enlighten me. Does this guy ever call his own plays? If Zorn's play calling is becoming too simplified and predictable as a recent WP article have inferred, would you like to see Campbell call more shots based on what he's seeing out there on the field?

Smith is the offensive coordinator and Zorn calls the plays. Campbell does not call plays in the huddle, but he can audible to new plays based on defensive alignments. The plays that Campbell can audible to are, however, pre-approved by Zorn (i.e., "If the defense gives you this look, you can audible to Y play.")

seems like he has a lil less leeway than he did late last year

he called some good 2 min drills at the end of the year last year

I think that zorn should free him up to do that again

Like the OP i am in the dark aswell as to whether JC can audible out of a play when he reads blitz. Im sure he can to some degree but ive been watching for it the past few games and havent seen many if any adjustments at the line other than swinging cooley or a TE from one side to the other . . .

have you all seen JC audible out of a play (other than readjusting blockers)? It may be hard to tell sometimes as we dont know what they called to begin with but has anyone noticed JC audible a new play?

If not or if zorn is keeping it simple for now I would think giving him greater freedom to audible will only help next year.

The QB needs to be able to call an audible but JC can't even execute a play despite who is calling it. He is no Peyton Manning by no means as much as I want to love JC.

I heard JC has taken over the responsiblity of OL blocking at the line something Raybach did in prior years. Maybe thats what is screwing up JC. We were supposed to have an up tempo breaking the huddle w/ 15 seconds left on play clock but as the year grows old they break the huddle later and later and JC looks frantic once he drops back.

Big game tomorrow better bring it

I couldn't disagree more. Are you saying he should still try to throw the ball with a guy hanging on to him? Yes he's been sacked, but that's better than an Int.
If the D is brining the heat, an audible isn't going to change the fact that they are coming. If our O-line can't pick up the blitz, they can't pick up the blitz. How many more screens and slants can we run without giving up a couple pick 6's?
