53Fan 12-05-2008, 09:15 PM Good work GTripp as always. I've been calling for the long ball for awhile now and most of the response's were, " You can't go long if you don't have time." Our lack of going deep is what caused defenses to know how to play us IMO. Now it looks as if we have no choice. Thomas had a TD called back, I believe it was in the Cardinals game, on a penalty by Heyer. That's the last time I remember the ball being thrown to him on anything other than something short. Winning, and therefore being in the playoff race, has probably caused us to take less chances with our passing game and our rookies. Our offense is usually a pretty easy read. I believe our lack of taking chances before, has left us in a position where now, taking chances are our only hope. The onus is on the receivers. If they can't catch or run the correct route, they have no business being a wide receiver in the NFL. Put some pressure on the rookies and they might step up. Nobody wants to look stupid. We're not Nebraska or Oklahoma from the 80's. This is the NFL. You better have some kind of passing game if you want to win. Campbell may have to roll out or be in the shotgun more. Whatever. Adjust.
SC Skins Fan 12-06-2008, 12:25 AM I emphatically agree. These game breakdowns are far and away the most detailed and informative posts on this site on a weekly basis.
Not that I don't enjoy this site otherwise- I love this place - but very few if any people on here have an understanding of the game to the extent of Tripp, so we're lucky to have this kind of quality stuff. It's like our own in house Ron Jaworski, without the annoying glasses.
Hate to be redundant, but I agree completely. Can't say it enough, the GTripp game breakdowns are the best thing going on The Warpath. If ESPN won't put you on the payroll Matty should at least throw you a few bucks :)

run run bomb worked pretty well for us the last time around (91).
our OL/talent level isn't as good though.

Either way, don't give yourself a headache. Ultimately, I am only black text that can appear in different colorsand alternating in size and shape But if you want a problem I will beat you like this cow no thats.. a horse but afterwards I will make it up to you and the horse and show you some tender lovings
Do you have a problem or am I not understanding your point???
Do you want to force me to commit beastiality b/c thats what I am all about.
And for those interested I do bachelor parties and bar mit va's
I don't want to force you to commit bestiality. I was merely seeking clarification of your earlier post which seems fairly straightforward compared to the more recent one.
Cerratto needs to go. That's the position I have held for many years now. If I'm wrong, if he's some sort of secret genius, then I will beg for forgiveness at the gates, but I don't think I'm wrong.

Hey Gtripp, (Oh great stat...master) do you by chance have any stats on where the Skins rank in success regarding their personel moves?
rbanerjee23 12-07-2008, 10:16 AM dude, tremendous analysis, i know statistics can be bent to imply just about anything but with this analysis, its tough not to say the wide receivers need to step it up. Do you think that is more a function of Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly being major disappointments so far or is it the coaching??
GTripp0012 12-07-2008, 01:13 PM Do you think that is more a function of Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly being major disappointments so far or is it the coaching??It's on the players. There's nothing fundamentally wrong with what's going on on the field, it's all about being able to handle the task of performing all the things NFL receivers have to do while being comfortable in doing it.
A10sROCK 12-07-2008, 02:01 PM Excellent analysis.
Without the ability to do steady, long drives , Zorn is just going to have to throw it long more in a game. there's been games when we've gone long only once or twice past 25 yds.
I suggest 7-8 long ones these last games. Teams are putting 8 in the box to stop CP; daring us to beat them with the pass.
Additionally I think Zorn has to tell the WR group that their jobs are on the line. We need WR who can catch. The continued dropped passes is killing this offense. Rookies may get another year.
I'd be interested to see if our WR drop at a higher % than the rest of the league?
T.O.Killa 12-07-2008, 06:43 PM Why is it that the NY Giants recievers caught everything thrown at them against the Redskins, and in the rain. Against the Eagles they dropped everything, effectively bringing them back in the playoff race. This realy pissed me off.
