irish 12-04-2008, 12:53 PM Irish, don't let facts get in the way here. This is a weekly thread where people put on their rose colored glasses, sip some kool-aid, and predict a Redskins victory, usually with some outrageously high score in the 30+ points range.
While I would love to see a victory, the skins on the road in Balmer against a very tough D, I predict loss #6 17-7.
Thanks for the reality check. Its too bad that today's notion of being a fan is somebody that has to ignore the facts and say rah-rah no matter what.
maroonandblack30 12-04-2008, 01:00 PM WAY more quality wins? 3 of the Skins 7 wins (Clev, Det, Seat) come against teams with a record of 6-30. Lets not mention the loss to the 2-10 Rams. I guess I'm wondering what quality teams you think the Skins have beaten. The only one I see is Dallas.
First 4 wins of the season were against teams with AT LEAST .500 records.... thats 4 more than the Ravens.... I guess it boils down to what you consider quality.
Not saying the Skins are great just that they have actually beaten decent teams. Can't say the same for the Ravens.

What facts are being ignored?
charlielyons 12-04-2008, 01:01 PM I think we lose this one 17-6. Too much defense for the offense to handle.

read my post.... I said the Skins and Ravens are EVENLY matched. I'm just somewhat baffled by all the "fans" that want to swing from B-mores nuts.
SmootSmack 12-04-2008, 01:06 PM I think it will be a really close game that could come down to overtime, after that...who knows
I think there are plenty of realistic predictions each week. Sure there are some homer predictions, just as there are some doom and gloom ones as well. Guess it depends on what side you lean to more as to which ones you focus in on.
GMScud 12-04-2008, 01:11 PM For some reason (what that reason is, I don't know), I believe we start to turn things around this weekend.
I don't think a rookie QB is good enough to pick apart our secondary (first rookie signal caller we've faced all year), and their running game doesn't scare me one bit. I think our defense will have an outstanding performance.
Offensively, I think Zorn needs to pace his playcalling differently. Trying to slow things down and grind the running game plays right into Baltimore's strengths and will find us facing tons of 3-and-outs. Find creative ways to get the ball in the hands of our playmakers (a la the Devin Thomas reverse against the Giants). Most of all, I'd really like to see a little shotgun this week. Let it all hang out, Coach Z.
Redskins- 17
Ravens- 13

The only decent teams the Ravens have beat is Phil & Miami. Thats nothing to get excited about. The Skins have beaten more decent teams than Balt.

Well, now you're just being obtuse.
Philly has its probs but beating Philly in Philly is a quality win. Particularly when it comes right after a road win in Dallas. New Orleans was a quality win (certainly as equal in quality as Miami for the Ravens, see below). Arizona was a quality win.
Baltimore beat Philly and Miami. Other than that it was Cinci (2), Cleveland (2), Houston and Oakland - No Arizona or Dallas equivalents.
Baltimore has lost to NY Giants, Tennessee, Indianapolis and Pittsburg. So no, they don't have a St. Louis Rams type loss on their schedule. Other than St. Louis, however, our losses are Dallas, Pitt, and the NYG's (2).
All in all, w/o breaking it down further, we have beaten slightly better teams then they have beaten and, other than St. Louis, lost to teams of similar caliber.
Not sure the two teams are, as CRedskins said, the top two non-elite teams of the league - 'cause I'm not sure how limited "elite" is. I think both teams are clearly second tier teams in the same class as Dallas, Atlanta & Patriots and slighty ahead of teams like Arizona, Miami, Denver & Minnesota (the other 7-5 teams). Certainly we have the capability to beat any of those teams, but only if the offense recaptures its early season success.
Which leads me to my prediction: two tough defenses - but their offense has been making strides while ours has stalled:
Baltimore 21
Skins 10
You don't know how much it hurts to say that. My Baltimore coworkers will NEVER let me hear the end of it.
