Ward broke one on us in the 4th quarter. It went for about 80+ yards. He was about to run it up on us, but someone hauled some SERIOUS ASS and tackled him short of the goal line. That is playing with heart.

your missin the point we have a better record then the browns.yes But on that day the browns had more heart and the will to win then the giants.

Could it be that you are missing the point. Heart does not win games, execution wins games. That Monday night the Giants let one slip and a lesser team beat them.
Yesterday both teams played hard. I did not watch the game and think "man this team has packed it in and gone home" I did however think "man they need to pull their heads outta their backends" and start executing. I also thought a lot "Wow, the Giants really are THAT good."

The Giants are FAR superior in talent and execution. That has nothing to do w/ heart.

Just an example: Giants WR's consist of Burress (of course didn't play yesterday), Toomer, Hixon, Steve Smith (2nd year), S. Moss.

How much better are they than the Skins WR's? Alot. We'll see how Thomas and Kelly progress as they have some upside but right now, they're alot better.

Their Oline? Maybe the best in the NFL.

First of all, I don't believe that the Giants had a far superior team than the Redskins yesterday. I think they executed on third down and called plays to Ward rather than Jacobs who we thought would run the ball down our throats. The Redskins had so many opportuniites to capitalize on a turnover and JC totally failed in going through his progressions totally diffferent than he was in the four straight wins. The Giants secondary could not keep up with Randle El nor Chris Cooley. It wasn't our offensive line yesterday. It was a non-efficient play by the QB.

Play calling, execution, talent and motivation together wins games.

Anytime we lose, any of these can be questioned.
You can win a game with heart, or even 4 or 5 in a row...but you must also have at least one other element to actually win.

I'd argue defensive playcalling to start the game was poor, Special teams did not execute. Offensive game planning heavy on pass was questionable.
Talent at WR, Oline, Dline, QB was less than that of our competition.

But to throw you a bone....yeah, this team has not played above their talent this year, except a couple games early in the season when defenses didn't have film on Zorn's offense. That was game calling and execution

Playing above your talent level is Coaching....call it motivation, call it heart.
But one I would never question is Portis...someone needs to consider benching that guy before he permanently damages his body...
Others with heart, Sellers, Rock, Fletch, Moss, ARE, Cooley, etc...there are plenty of Skins with "guts"...the only question is how do we motivate the others to play higher than their ability?

The only one that can do that is Zorn....but he needs to get to know his players well enough to get inside their heads and press their buttons.
That is an intangible skill that only the best Head Coaches can do.
That is not always a learned skill....some have it, some don't.
We will learn next year if Zorn can take the next step and figure out how to motivate at an individual level.

Could it be that you are missing the point. Heart does not win games, execution wins games.

Heart heavily effects execution.
Look at our last 2 playoff runs.

You just cant say heart does not win games, it is a major factor in most.
The only ones where it is not a factor are in games when the teams are significantly different in terms of talent....that is not common in todays NFL.

However, the Giants are better than us in:
Coaching
Talent
Execution

So it is really hard to beat a team like that if you need to make up all the deficiencies in heart alone.
We needed stellar coaching and/or execution, we didn't get either.

This is getting ridiculous. Heart is not real. It's a made up sports cliche. It's not like a 40 time or max bench press. When a player goes down short of the first down on fourth and one and you lose the game, OK, that guy lacked heart on that play. Fine, use the dumb cliche.

But to take an entire game in which we were dominated in most phases and say, hey, look at this, we don't have enough heart, is ass-stupid. It's not the type of analysis that belongs next to the writing of people like Gtripp, who work hard breaking down our games in meaningful, illuminating ways.

aLL IM SAYIN IS THAT IT LOOKED LIKE MOST OF THE DAY PLAYERS WERE JUST GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS, HENSE ME SAYING THAT THEY LACKED HEART. i WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANY OF YOU PEOPLE THAT ARE TRYING TO DOWN WHAT IM SAYING ABOUT HAVING HEART HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH FOOTBALL, EVER EVEN STRAPPED A DAMN HELMET ON. FOOTBALL IS A GAME FULL OF EMOTION. AND GIVING UP AND NOT SHOWING HEART IS SOMETHING THAT CAN BE NOTICED. i NOTICED IT. YES HAVING HEART HAS ALOT TO DO WITH WINNING FOOTBALLGAMES, IT MEANS YOU WONT BACK DOWN WHEN TIMES GET HARD. IF YOU GET PUNCHED IN THE MOUTH YOU WILL PUNCH RIGHT BACK. IT MEANS THAT YOU GO HARD ON EVERY PLAY(EVEN EXTRA POINTS). WE DID NOT SHOW ANY OF THAT YESTERDAY. NONE OF YOU CAN HONESTLY SAY WE PLAYED 100% YESTERDAY. EVERYONE HAS DIFFERENT EXCUSES FOR SHIT. OUR LINE IS OLD OUR COACHING IS BAD, BLAH BLAH BLAH. MAN UP
