sadly giants will be restin players by the dallas game if they win next week.

I wouldn't count on that. Last year, they could have rested players against New England as it was a meaningless game for the Giants. They had already clinched the 5 seed, and they played the game to win. They will likely get a bye, if they start resting guys for Dallas, that would be over 4 weeks without game action. Not a good idea.

People this is set up almost like the last 2 times we made the playoffs. Our home failures look very much like a team last year, that's right the superbowl champs, We have'nt lost on the road since week 1 and 3 of the last 4 are on the road. We can beat baltimore cause although their improved they don't have the offense to make us pay like the other good defensive teams did.

Smart thinking buddy. I bet the Giants fans are glad their team didn't think that way last year.

The Giants had the pieces in place. They had pass rushers, they had wr's that could take over games. We don't have that. We can't even score any points. I think a requirement for a playoff team is that it has to score some points. We can't do it and we haven't done it all year. Are we suppose to flick on a switch and all of a sudden start scoring TD's?

i know people want to give playoff scenarios and all that, but really, what makes anyone think we would make the playoffs?? We can NOT score points. You have to score points to win games and our offense, for what ever reason, is putrid, down right horrible. We have only scored 5 more points this season than the Lions, who are 0-12 might i remind you. I was thinking we could make a run and finish 11-5, but who are we kidding. We aren't going to be Baltimore, probably lose to Philly, and the other two games are no gimmies when you think about our offense. I may be a little too harsh right now, but this offense or what ever you want to call it, is absolutely horrible. I dont know if its Jason or what. Its amazing to me that we dont give our recievers any chance to get the ball. I was watching the carolina game and steve smith, virtually the same size as moss, is given the opportunity to make a play. we dont even try to make plays down the field. is it Jason not wanting to take a chance, or is it zorn telling him not to?

My only glimmer of hope is seeing how this team played their best ball with their backs against the wall in 2005 and 2007. Their backs are now against the wall again, we'll see how they respond on Sunday night.

So after looking at the schedule, the key number seems to be 3 wins in the final 4 games, with the final two games being must win games.

With the concern being the playoff picture, the Ravens game is actually shaping up to be a pretty meaningless game. If we win it, we would still have a shot at 11-5, which should be good enough to make the playoffs in the NFC, unless Dallas goes 3-1 to finish the season. (Yeah, there's actually a decent chance that at 11-5, we could miss the playoffs if Dallas can somehow beat the Giants. Exactly how many wins we will need is dependent on how they do against a brutal December schedule.)

But a loss to the Ravens sets us up for a 10-6 at best finish. In this scenario, we would hold all the tiebreakers.

Either way, the only way to get to the playoffs is to beat the Eagles and 49ers, and then win against either the Ravens, the Bengals or both. And in any situation, we will need help.

Dallas plays Pittsburgh, New York, Baltimore, and Philadelphia. Atlanta plays New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Minnesota, and St. Louis.

We need to finish ahead of both Dallas and Atlanta to make the playoffs, and trail each by one game.

Thanks for posting the (gasp) facts. Despite the ugly loss yesterday and more potential ugliness next week we are still in decent shape for a playoff run. Our schedule is FAR easier than the Cowboys or Falcons down the stretch. A 3-1 finish can get it done.

I think you guys are forgetting about the Panthers and Bucs who are both 9-3. While one will obviously win the South, that will leave the other team fighting it out with Atlanta, Dallas, us, and I suppose the Bears for the the final two playoff spots. Meaning that every game is a must win.

Have to agree here! It's time to embrace the reality. WE ARE NOT THAT GOOD. The way we are playing....with an offense that scares NO ONE.....the Panthers are set-up to take that final wild card spot.
And it really is not out of the question for Dallas to beat the Giants in two weeks. As others have said....Giants will be resting most of their starting players as they will have locked up 1st place & home field. Unfortunately Dallas appears to possibly be peaking at the right time and the thought of them getting a shot at the final wild card spot makes ME SICK!

I really doubt the Giants will rest players as long as Carolina/TB are winning. And Dallas does not play well in December (normally) Atlanta really is the true wildcard. Shame Norv couldn't due the Skins one last favor before he is fired.
We should go either 3-1 or 4-0 over the last quarter, yes "we can't score" against great defenses, but we ought to find a way to pull enough points out to win against the teams we have left.

I think Coughlin showed last year he's not a coach big on resting guys and putting things on cruise control. He will keep the hammer down til the final whistle of the regular season.

Ummm....we've struggled to score multiple TD's the entire season(with our high being a whopping 29pts against the Saints) and the last four games have been abysmal! We have zero balance on offense and just watching the Giants play yesterday showed me how much better a team they really are.
