What's Wrong with the Redskins?Hog1 12-01-2008, 11:31 AM Vinnie's show is on right now. MAN, he is getting his ass handed to him. PISSED OFF fans. WAY TO much knee jerk........... MTK 12-01-2008, 11:36 AM They take him away because he is the Skins only WR and know that if he's neutralized than the Skins hae no other viable WR options, not because he scares the D. I guess you can spin it that way, but he's proven he can burn a D and be a dangerous WR plenty of times before. I think it's more than him being simply a viable WR. PennSkinsFan 12-01-2008, 11:42 AM Vinnie's show is on right now. MAN, he is getting his ass handed to him. PISSED OFF fans. WAY TO much knee jerk........... Yes, and from what I understand. he said in regards to criticism on the defensive pass pressure, we have a Hall of Fame DE (Taylor). Ahhhhhhh, Vinny, Jason Taylor is older and not the same, period. If that is the case, if this is his mentality, we are in HUGE trouble. irish 12-01-2008, 11:46 AM I guess you can spin it that way, but he's proven he can burn a D and be a dangerous WR plenty of times before. I think it's more than him being simply a viable WR. Every WR has burned Ds at certain times so I dont put much stock in that. I think on the elite teams he would be a #2 WR. hail828791 12-01-2008, 11:49 AM This might sound crazy but i think its Campbell. He can't convert on third down and can't score a touch downs. I agree wholeheartedly. Campbell can't throw the deep ball. Every long ball is thrown underneath. take for example the interception by the Giants. Moss ( I believe he was the intended receiver) has two, mabe three, steps but had to wait for the ball, and it was enough time foe the secondary to ctach up and make the play. Look at the two big receptions by Moss in the first Dallas game. They both should have been touchdowns, but Moss had to slow down. actually stop, to catch the ball. Campbell had three or more passes in the dirt yesteray. He was underthrowing his long passes during warm up before the game. BDBohnzie 12-01-2008, 11:53 AM The problem is two-fold. One is execution. The Redskins over the past few weeks are not executing like they were the first several weeks. Blame it on what you will, lack of heart, age, injuries, your mistress didn't wear her lucky panties, etc., but this team as a whole (all sides...just because you're ranked 6th in Total Defense, doesn't mean your execution is flawless) is not executing as they should. They have 4 games to show the NFL, as well as themselves, what they are made of. The talent is there, the execution simply is not. Two is rookie head coach. While Zorn had success early in the year, other teams now have plenty of tape on him and how he conducts the team. His adjustments are not as sharp as they were, and he's simply the victim of his own success. Teams have caught up to him, and because of various things, he cannot make the adjustments he needs to in order to right the ship. However, it's not for a lack of trying...the Thomas reverse is one of the few reverses they have run all year. He saw the Giants pursuing to the point that they were over pursuing, and took advantage of it. Needless to say, I didn't think the Skins would be 7-5 at this point in the year. I was hoping the Skins would get 7 wins all season, and I think that's part of the problem as a fan. Expectations were heightened because of early success, and with the run they've had of late, all the Chicken Littles come running like clockwork. However, there aren't too many teams that could come out of playing Pittsburgh, Dallas and the Giants in 3 of 4 games and be on top of their game after that stretch. It would have been a lot easier to take if those games were disbursed throughout the schedule. The nice thing is there is still time to make corrections, to get guys healthy and make a run. Whether they do or not is another thing, but it's possible. However, I don't think this team is quite ready for prime time. Takeuon 12-01-2008, 12:05 PM I know I seem like a negative nanny. Ok slam me. I mentioned QB...why cause JC is that home grown corn bred fed country boy that everyone has working for them and is slower then molassas. You guys know what I mean. If your in the military you have thought ..."that boy will be the first to go cause he just has no get up and go." Be honest with your self. Look at the "great QB's" in this league. They have a sense of urgency when they are down in the fourth quarter. Hands flying, arms waving, no huddle, running up to the line, barking plays. This is not JC. Yes he manages well. Yes he's a calm, cool cat, but not a great QB and probably never will be. Simple fact...we need a decent punter and field goal kicker. Almost everyone agrees. I mentioned #4. More younger WR's cause our guys we have now are late 20's early 30's older then dirt. It's either their to old to get seperation or the WR coach sucks in teaching how to get seperation. I'm not fond of Stan Hixon. What 4-5 years and he has not taught a WR to run a decent route? He may have been a guru in college but it's not transfering. No one will argue we need younger linemen on both sides of the ball. On Offense Gibbs always liked the older wiser linemen who don't make mistakes. Guess what ...they are making mistakes. Time to get younger and faster. On Defense we have no push up the middle to callapse the pockets and the only salvagable DE we have is Carter. They need to start throwing all the young guys in to see who will stay next year or not. I know the Giants were an expected loss by lots of us including me, but it would have been nice to see us put up a fight. One touch down. One. This is not a scoring machine offense Zorn said he was bringing. I know there were a lot of dropped balls but watching the game there were a lot of dirt balls, and balls thrown to high, balls thrown to hard at times. and I can't help but look at how Atlanta does and cry wondering how on earth another team who has a new coaching staff, new system, and new QB is able to score so many points and stay in games? We couldn't fight our way out of wet paper bag. We might get lucky and get a field goal. lol. I know I sound like the sky is falling type. I'm not. I know it takes 3 yrs to learn a new system. I don't care how you spin it or what excuses people can dream up but this team will not go far in the play offs. Everyone needs to be honest with themselves right now and see we can't score more then 20 points on our best day we are not going far. Our defense is carrying us keeping us in games but the offense has to step up and score points and not field goals. All season I kept thinking....Zorn has something for the second half of the year. He's holding something back. He's not showing all his cards. He's got something for the Giants and the rest of this division the second time we play them. He's dreaming something up. and you know what....he doesn't. We have no special weapon. We have 4 games left and if we were going to use it or them they or it would have shown up some where around week 8 halfway through the season. We have nothing. Hey bro...its ok to be pissed off now. Lord knows I am! And venting may or may not help me. But I'm going to anyways. The one thing that really chapped my ass yesterday was that the game was set-up to honor Sean Taylor. And what did the defense do on the Giants 1st possession? NOTHING! Except look like they were asleep and get burned. I mean C'mon! On the 1st frigging drive to allow them to march down the field and score. IN OUR HOUSE AND ON A DAY WHEN YOUR REMEMBERING A FALLEN DEFENSIVE TEAM MATE! REALLY!??? Reality has sunk in....yes we're ahead of the curve for a 1st year head coach and JC is learning a new system, our O-line sucks...blahblahblah. Reality is....we average at best and have a LONG way to go! Hog1 12-01-2008, 12:50 PM Yes, and from what I understand. he said in regards to criticism on the defensive pass pressure, we have a Hall of Fame DE (Taylor). Ahhhhhhh, Vinny, Jason Taylor is older and not the same, period. If that is the case, if this is his mentality, we are in HUGE trouble. Well.........not all of his answers have been adequate. BUT, he can't say everything he knows, obviously. For the most part, he's doing a pretty good job fielding a lot of HOT.......FANATICS. Hog1 12-01-2008, 12:57 PM AND I hope Danny Smith is oiling up his "cat o' nine tails", and "Iron maiden" as somebody's (or several sombody's) lazy ass needs to pay for missing out on the muffed snap the Giants Hog1 12-01-2008, 12:59 PM Successful plays (defined as 45% of yards to gain on 1st, 60% on 2nd, and 100% on 3rd or 4th) divided by total targets.
