And I'm not trying to say that we've had great, or even good OL production recently. Just that they've been much better of late, and that if they were the only issue, we'd be doing much, much better on offense.
What's Wrong with the Redskins?GTripp0012 12-01-2008, 12:26 AM And I'm not trying to say that we've had great, or even good OL production recently. Dude, what game were you watching? They were molesting him all day. Jason gets hit within 2.5 seconds of the snap more than any other QB in the league. Or are you just saying that because you'd like to see a 6th round rookie QB start the rest of the way? No I like to see the best option for us to win. Campbell crumbling isnt just a today thing he does it every week while under pressure. I like Colt and I think highly of him don't know if he's top player material but I see Campbell doing the same things that drove everybody crazy about Brunell and wanting him out. I was never sold on Campbell. He wasn't the reason Auburn did great it was that two headed monster in the back field with Ronnie and Caddy. I know its fan loyalty to stick to your franchise qb but i think its a lil blind love. Can Colt do it? Maybe, maybe not but the more i watch this team I know we'll be 1 and done if we even make It, and Campbell is so overrated. burgundy&goldnca 12-01-2008, 02:38 AM We need standout player makers on both the OL, DT, linebacker and 2nd, 3rd receivers. We don't match up well with physical teams. a serious lack of execution. Too much system football you may be holding back the reins of possibly a player being dominate or outstanding Sheriff Gonna Getcha 12-01-2008, 02:44 AM No I like to see the best option for us to win. At the risk of sounding like a major d-bag, I've got to say that it's kind of funny that a Colt supporter is accusing JC supporters of blind love. GTripp0012 12-01-2008, 04:06 AM Fwiw, my Game Charting numbers say that the No. 1 problem with the receiving corps aside from no depth and development behind ARE is that Moss is a huge part of our offense, but is generally unreliable. I would really like to see Malcolm Kelly emerge as THE go-to target in this offense, and then we can go base 3 WR with Moss and Randle El, and Cooley dominating the middle of the field. Then all we have to do is replace Thrash on the roster in the offseason with a speed threat (Devery Henderson?), and I think most of our offensive issues are solved. I would use the draft to fix OL, but I wouldn't worry about trying to fix it all in one year. Pick one prospect we really like, and draft him, and start him from day one. I still have faith that this group can do a mediocre job in the future. Well, not you Casey Rabach, but that seems like a simple fix. GTripp0012 12-01-2008, 04:16 AM Receiver Success Rate (5 targets min): Antwaan Randle El (70%) Chris Cooley (62.5%) Mike Sellers (55.6%) Malcolm Kelly (50.0%) Santana Moss (49.4%) Devin Thomas (44.4%) Clinton Portis (39.3%) James Thrash (29.4%) Todd Yoder (28.6%) Ladell Betts (16.7%) The loose threshold for reliability is about 50% in this statistic. As a No. 1 WR, Moss really shouldn't be below 50%. He's still good for 9+ YPA because he's a deep threat and moves well after the catch, but the general unreliability is rubbing off on Campbell, I believe. These two are essentially tied at the hip, and it would be nice for Campbell to be able to have a different go-to guy, with Moss as an effective third down target that slips by defenses unoticed. Though this is a pipe dream for the rest of this year. 53Fan 12-01-2008, 04:35 AM Fwiw, my Game Charting numbers say that the No. 1 problem with the receiving corps aside from no depth and development behind ARE is that Moss is a huge part of our offense, but is generally unreliable. Maybe these last few games Kelly will step up. He hasn't been on the field that much this year but I believe when he gets going it will make a huge difference. I have'nt given up on Thomas yet. I think we'll see what we've been looking for, if not this year than next. Whether it's been injuries, a learning process or whatever, we just haven't put it together yet. irish 12-01-2008, 08:01 AM The Skins just dont have the offensive talent now to do what Zorn wants. They have a QB thats still learning and CP is great but he's the only RB they have that can do anything. As for WRs, after Moss & Cooley there is nobody that scares defenses and the rookies appear at this point to be busts. The O line is old & creaky with no young talented replacements in sight. I hope the FO can do something to fix this but I have little confodence in them. redskinsgirl 12-01-2008, 08:07 AM At the same point in his career last year as JC is this year, Eli Manning won a Super Bowl. Eli is only one year ahead of Campbell, but he is far superior. And as far as the argument that Campbell is in a new system, look at rookie Matt Ryan, who is way ahead of Campbell from a development standpoint in his first year in a new system and new league. Campbell is serviceable, but he does not look like a great QB in the making. He needs to show more leadership on the field. You are also forgetting this same time last year that NYG fans wanted to run Eli out of NY especially after the infamous Minnesota game. He was leading the leagues in fumbles and interceptions last season. I wouldn't say Eli is light years ahead of JC. Eli was an mediocre QB on a great team that why he was able to win a superbowl and consistently take the Giants to the playoffs. Statistically JC is way ahead of Manning if your trying to compare Manning of last year to JC this year. skinsfan69 12-01-2008, 08:36 AM The Skins just dont have the offensive talent now to do what Zorn wants. He is what he is. |
