What should we draft?53Fan 12-28-2008, 12:57 AM If we could get Mack and a good OT, maybe Eugene Monroe, in the same draft, that would be great! BrunellMVP? 12-29-2008, 04:23 PM The Draft under Vinny 2008: Leave alone - though its been a DISASTER. 2007: Landy and Blades (only 1 pick in the first four rounds). Laundry is a no brainer and blades could be serviceable but can't cover. 2006: Rocky (limp knees- got exposed as he can't stay healthy a full season), Golston (again, only 1 pick in the first 4 rounds) 2005: Rogers and Campbell (both first rounders, both good players though not great- Rogers could be shopped this summer. no 2,3 round picks) 2004: Cooley and Taylor: only 4 picks in the draft, taylor was a no brainer, cooley a VERY pleasant surprise. 2003: 3 draft picks, dockery was an excellent grab at 3rd, Jacobs was a bust in the 2nd. 2002: Ladell betts, Ramsey, Rock Cart. both betts and ramsey are capable backups, rock is a great special teams player but nothing more. 2008 - Washington Redskins Rd Sel # Player Position School 2 34 Devin Thomas WR Michigan State 2 48 Fred Davis TE USC 2 51 Malcolm Kelly WR Oklahoma 3 96 Chad Rinehart T Northern Iowa 4 124 Justin Tyron CB Arizona State 6 168 Durant Brooks P Georgia Tech 6 180 Kareem Moore DB Nicholls State 6 186 Colt Brennan QB Hawaii 7 242 Rob Jackson DE Kansas State 7 249 Chris Horton FS UCLA 2007 - Washington Redskins Rd Sel # Player Position School 1 6 LaRon Landry SS Louisiana State 5 143 Dallas Sartz LB USC 6 179 H.B. And Cerrato still has his job why? WaldSkins 12-29-2008, 06:27 PM We need to work on our O-Line, although I have been watching this WR from UNC (NICKS) and this kid is an excellent route runner, he is quick, and has great hands. Nicks and Crabtree are two receivers that are going to receive a lot of attention this offseason. Instead of drafting three receivers last year we should of taken a lineman then went after one of these two in this years draft. Sheriff Gonna Getcha 12-29-2008, 06:28 PM So since 2002 we have only drafted 11 players for our active roster excluding the 2008 draft. And Cerrato still has his job why? I posted this in a different thread: Until this past offseason, Cerrato did not have a defined role with the team. The Redskins supposedly made offseason moves based on the decision of a committee comprised of Cerrato, Gibbs, Grilliams, and other coaches. Without knowing whether Cerrato pushed for or opposed signing free agents like Lloyd on the one hand and Fletcher on the other, it was pretty difficult if not impossible to give Cerrato a "grade." Yet, like a blindfolded kid taking a swing at a pinata, a lot of Redskins fans blamed Cerrato for all the bad personnel decisions (e.g., Lloyd, Duckett, etc.) and praised Gibbs for the good ones (e.g., Washington, Griffin, etc.). The 2008 offseason was the first one since 2002 in which we knew Cerrato was running the show. Based on our 2008 season, it looks like Cerrato did a poor job with the lines and the trade for Jason Taylor. However, the book on guys like Thomas, Kelly, Davis, Tryon, and the rest of the draft class won't be fully written for a few years. So, I'll give Cerrato a C- for 2008, with the condition that the grade is subject to change based on how we look back on the 2008 draft in a few years. This is one signing i didn't mind, we just didn't use him to the best of his abilities. Out of the entire draft, we have 1 player that starts...3 second round picks that don't play- (let alone crack a talentless- besides moss- WR corps) not acceptable at all. SFREDSKIN 12-29-2008, 07:21 PM Alex Mack C out of Cal Berkeley if possible. mauiRedskinbarn 12-29-2008, 07:41 PM it depends on whose available, and who we get in Free agency. If we pick up an OT like Gross, or Vernon Carey, then I say go for a D-lineman with our 1st pick, like BJ Raji, or Michael Johnson. If we pick up Hayneswoth or Rocky Bernard in FA, I say draft an OL like Euguene Monroe, or Duke Robinson. But 1st and foremost our OL, especially oppisite Samuels and Kendell is very weak right now, and our QB needs some protection. So weather it be in FA, or the draft, number 1 priority is O-line. Jansen and Thomas are washed up, and Heyer is a true backup. SBXVII 12-29-2008, 07:51 PM Draft a WR's coach. Draft a OC. Draft for OL/DL Draft a thought into possibly changing to a 3-4 since most of the successful teams are using it. |
