Excuse me there hoss but what I think is irrelevant is to keep talking about a player who is no longer on this team and to keep projecting what COULD have been when you really have no way of knowing. Maybe he doesn't get to start because he isn't good enough to start, did that ever cross your mind? He was cut from the Redskins, never made it off the Ravens practice squad, and is third or fourth string on the Jets. So Jones is having a good year, why has'nt Mason made it to 2nd string? The fact is , we cut him, so to keep talking about it is not only irrelevent but assinine.

Ok you didn't say it was a numbers game..I did. For one. Secondly the quote above is what you said. You were saying he is no good. No one is saying the coaching staff or front office doesn't know what they are doing and yes keeping the extra D-lineman didn't pan out. Also to keep an extra WR and a DB because they probably felt Doughty was a liability. Remember they kept the DB from VA Tech that got cut. So it being a numbers game is obvious. Zorn was impressed with Mason as were other players on the team even Portis. So what are you debating? You are saying he would have been cut anyway. Who is saying anything about him being cut? What I am saying is he already had knowledge of the plays along with speed agility and vision (remember this is Joe Gibbs running scheme and Mason was on the team last year - not Zorns running scheme). The point you are trying to make is as him being a returner. Saying that Rock is our third back. But there is a conflict here. Rock wasn't kept because he was a better running back but because he held on to returns. Mason seemed to be a better runner but fumble on a return so they felt he wasn't as reliable as Rock on returning kicks. Rob Jackson and Erasmus James haven't done anything. They haven't panned out thus far. Maybe they will eventually. So you said basically in your quote that he wasn't good enough. But anyone with two eyes could see that he had skill and upside. So dont try to use my statement to make your points when you are validating mine and proving yourself wrong. It wasn't about talent it was a numbers game. So we dont know what COULD have happened. But we COULD have signed Mason but we didn't but that's over with. But I am pretty sure that he had more upside than Alexander and IF he played well we could have kept him for a valuable back up in the future and for the same rate as we got Alexander. Young player with upside that could contribute in the future if CP goes down or an Old has been that used to play under Coach Zorn that's the real reason he got picked up. If he had something left in the tank Detroit or Cincinatti would have picked Alexander up...Oh I forgot they are stacked at RB.

What the hell are you talking about they have McGahee and we have Portis. WTF? Dude are you lost to what I was saying. I was saying your proving my point that it was a numbers game. I said B-More had McGahee Rice and MCClain (that's why they let Mason go..duh)..We have Portis (Monster) Betts (Average) and Cartwright (3rd back at best)..and as far as the Jets he's behind Jones and Leon Washington..Do you watch football?

*Oh yeah I feel you SBXVII (http://www.thewarpath.net/members/sbxvii.html). Lets not mention Betts almost losing the game for us. Or the fact he couldn't punch it in from the one yard line against the Giants several times last year. Also the fact that if Portis wasn't such a soldier we might not even be in some of these games..

So 53 sit here and tell me with Portis and Betts out you would have been comfortable with Alexander and Rock handling the load..whatever.."Some" people were in this forum almost pissing in their pants and let out a sigh of relief when Portis came back for the Dallas game..

I am tired of talking about this..We are not going to sign Mason this year and Tip Toe Burgular was garbage...end of discussion..

I really don't know WHAT your point is and at this point I don't really care. I'm sure it wasn't worth all this space to begin with. Being tired of talking about Mason was MY POINT to begin with. Read the original post Einstein.

Just want to throw something out for everyone to think about...I haven't heard anything or read anything i just have a gut feeling this deal will get done for the 09-10 season.

Edge wants out of Arizona and at the Age of 30 his years are limited on were he van demand to go. With his agent being Drew Rosenhaus who loves dealing with the skins and of course another player from the "U" he would be a great fit in DC. I don't trust Ladell Betts with the football in a close game at all. Edge is very close to a lot of the faces of the franchise and I can just picture him backing up Portis!! Let me know what you all think or is this to far fetched?

I think Edge still thinks of himself as a starter, not sure if there will be a team out there that agrees, but regardless I don't see him coming here. Betts is a solid backup.

Besides, why would we want James when, in all likelihood, Mason will be cut by the Jets and we could sign him instead.

and to be cleas... yes that was sarcasm.
