Cooley, our answer to Jeremy Shockey

shockey = media hype

um, i recall shockey burning the hell out of us. he has the big play potential that only gonzalez and heap have.

Cooley doesn't have the same skills as Shockey, let's face it when Shockey is healthy he's a freak, the only TE's that are in the same boat are Heap, Gonzalez and most likely KWII will join them. Cooley won't be featured in this offense like those guys are, if he sees 30 catches and 4 TD's that will be a quality season for him.

That being said, Cooley looks like he's going to be a great fit for this offense. He can block, he's smart, he can catch and make some things happen after the catch.

Gibbs knows TE's and H-backs. He obviously saw something in Cooley that made him feel comfortable enough to pass on a monster like KWII, take Taylor instead and trade up to grab Cooley later on.

i seem to be disagreeing with you the past few posts ive seen that you made. NO WAY HE'S TOP 3. cant be possible cause he cant stay on the field.

just to name a few i think are the same caliber and some much better based on blocking, recieving and last but not least DURABILITY

But you cant argue with the fact that he pushed linebackers down like they were stickfigures and makes plays happen. Hes had the injury bug ever since he was in the NFL but ify ou think he is overrated and not that good then you need to start watching football more, then make an assesment.

Shockey is a fine player but I don't think the fact that he plays in New York should be overlooked. Maybe it's not media hype per se but he definitely gets more attention playing in New York than he would in Seattle for example

Shockey is a gifted player, as much as I hate him. Cooley will be a great player for us and I think was the right decesion. He fits into our offense perfectly!

He was the right decision because Cooley can play hback the way Gibbs wants an hback to play. Its almost better for us that people will over look cooley and not worry as much about him. It will be easier for him to get screen or go out for passes since teams wont be eyeing him. plus I dont think anyone is upset about our pick of taylor, heh

cooley is a blocker and safety valve, heap and shockey are more like having extra receivers...
