^^^ yeah in the 1st quarter i noticed our D players were really flying in there to get a lil extra piece of a cowboy ball carrier as he was being brought down. One guy would have the tackle and another 2 would fly in there to give a shoulder as the cowboy was going down.
i also noticed the refs giving portis a hand to help him get up off the ground ALOT. 3 times in one drive i think. nice guys.

Im a little worried about the play calling. I love Moss and I think he is capable of losing any d-back in the NFL, but to throw the w.r. screen as much as we did on sunday scares me. That play works once maybe twice a game and it has alot to do with luck when it does work. Either Zorn doesnt have faith in Moss or Campbell to go down field. I also think Zorn is being a little too protective of J.C. Let him fling that ball around. Dont get me wrong I love what Zorn is doing with his technique. I just think we have to go down field a little bit more.

If that name sounds familiar, it's because it should. He was the guy who hogtied Nick Barnett last year, earning a one game suspension.

I thought he called a conservative game. One long pass down the field!
However, I did have a revelation later in the game:
Why have Gibbs, Saunders and Zorn all had such limited and similiar playcalling? 1) Jason Campbell is ready yet? 2) Our WR aren't ready?
3) OL is getting beat?
Either Zorn has a limited imagination or he's doing the plays that the team can handle [based on practices].
BL - Team's know that Clinton Portis is the center of our offense. Stop him and we've got nothing left.

I feel like I've said this a lot now, but the fact that the ball is not thrown long is often not because Zorn didn't call a long pass. If there's no time to throw, you can't hit the long stuff. Notice on the one shot we did take. What happened? Miracle of miracles, the pass pro held.
Once we're having pass pro troubles, throwing the screen is not a bad move: otherwise, one of your main playmakers never gets the ball at all.
I think he should have run Portis more in retrospect--I'm not sure he was really shut down in that game--but I can see wanting to throw against the cowroids secondary.

I've been impressed with Zorn but wonder if he will be calling the plays next year. If the offense scoring production keeps going down continually he'll have to look himself in the mirror and bring in a new OC in 2009.

I see what your saying but the run sets up the pass. But if they are not goin down field and the other team knows we are run heavy then the db's are up on the w.r. making the screen impossible. Its obvious J.C. doesnt have to much faith in the other receivers. Maybe I should call the plays next year.

he looked like he was ready to blow chunks the whole game. everyone I was watching the game with commented on that fact
My biggest fear is seeing Jim Zorn suffering a heart attack. I have seen few coaches (at least head coaches) that are as intense as Zorn when it comes to game day.

...that being said, Coach Zorn looked most of the game like he was gonna Hurl. and then in the postgame locker room comments he looked half dead. Any talk of him being sick, fighting a bug of some sort, or is the wear and tear of the season starting to catch up with him?
I'm sure he's sick of Dan Snyder and Vinnie Ceratto by now. What decent human being wouldn't be?
