Ok guys I couldn't do the whole column this week too much work (that actually pays lol) but here is my take on the Rivalry Game.

Dallas at Washington +2 43.5

First I don't know why Vegas it's putting Dallas as the favorite... I don't know if it has to do more with Portis injury than Romo's return because it's crazy.

At the beginning of the week I was leaning more for a redskins victory but, as the days moved along I started to change my perspective. And here's why.

It's pretty clear that with how well the NFC south is playing it's going to be almost impossible for 3 NFC East teams to make the playoffs and with NYG practically owning the division you have 3 teams fighting for 1 spot.
We know it's a must win for both teams but, it's more for Dallas because losing this game will put them 2 games behind Washington, a 1-3 record in the division (if it comes to Phi and Dal for the final wildcard) and a 3-5 record in the conference so if Dallas loses this game they'll practically be saying bye bye to the playoffs.
Portis is out and Bets isn't 100% either with no running game dallas will be able to put more pressure and Portis has killed in the past years so not having him is a mayor hit.
Pride. Dallas players know how bad the media has talk about them and with reason. they all know that everyone had put them in the SB before they even played
Romo yes he's not everything but he will bring some life back to a death offense....they have looked as bad as the oakland offense in the past week.. .we all know he might make some mistakes during the game but he will make points which this team needs.
So those are my reason for this pick see you Sunday Night

I can understand you pulling for your team D'BOYZ, and you make some good points. But you may be underestimating the pride of the Redskins. We got our asses handed to us against Pittsburgh and it was embarrassing. A win at home against the Cowgirls would set things straight and wash away a bad memory for the team and the fans. I also think you may be underestimating Betts. 100%?...no. Good enough?....probably, and if not, we have Alexander and Rock. We feel we need this game also and it does'nt always go to the one who needs it the most. Many teams have lost the last game of the season when they needed it to make the playoffs. Anyway I don't think we'll agree on who is going to win, and it won't be decided here. Looking forward to the game. Should be a good one.

Pretty fair analysis. I think the passing game is going to decide the game though. I a concerned that Moss might not be able to be a positive factor for us and if that happens, we are screwed.

Totally agree with you 53fan not on the Alexander thing there's a reason nobody pick him when they could, the guys is done... Rock it's great ST player and he can do something with the ball on screen but use him for 25 plays don't think so.

And I agree It can go both ways for no reason this is a shoe in or just because they need it, they will win it... at the end it always comes down not who is the better team but who wants it more.

There are a few Question marks with Dallas that makes me doubt the Win like

Defense you can say all you want about Brad Johns the guy suck but the defense couldn't stop eli or Jackson they make to many mistakes... so I still don't know if they're going to show up.
Romo... everybody says he's throwing the ball ok but we don't know how he's going to respond after the first hit or if he will be able to throw the tough passes like he used to.
Oline... this unit has been the worst we have some big dumb guys in there man each week they look dreadful, I guess it's because they just signed a new contract.
Chemistry this team has zero... I don't know if they even know the word... their egos are so high they're more worried about stats than winning the game.
Turnovers we have tons of first round picks and pro bowlers that can generate turnovers and help the offense. they're so used to being bailed by the offense they don't help them.
So as you see there are a lot of reason that make me doubt this game and for no reason I think it's going to be easy or a shoe in.

But at the end I have to make a pick and it has nothing to do with Dallas being my team I pick against them when I don't see it. In this case I feel the reasons in the first post are going to make the difference.

If we can't get our offense out of its funk, the game just might be a replay of the Steeler debacle. Just hoping our guys on D aren't so nicked up!!!!

I just dont see the skins winning for a few reasons.
1) little production from the WR position when Moss isnt healthy
2) No Portis= no threat of the run or great pass protection from the Rb position.
3) Cowboys DE will embarass Jansen and give an injured Samuals a hard time
The defense will keep it interesting, but the Cowboys will pull away by the 3rd Qtr.

I agree, especially with #1. I got razzed in another thread for calling out Randle El and co. Other than Moss, they are a joke. Randle El produces, but not on the level that was/is expected of him when we acquired him. With him and Patten the passing game was supposed to be opened up more for Moss under Gibbs. Thrash was a threat during his first stint with us under Norv, but not so now. Too many guys dinged up. To be honest I am expecting another Steelers game tonight.

Excuse me for "razzing" you some more, but what exactly was the expectation of ARE when he was first brought here? Because looking at his career numbers in Pittsburgh, and comparing them to what he's done here, he's clearly been playing at a higher level the last 2 years.

What are your expectations of a #2 WR numbers wise?

Can you point out some other #2 WRs in this league to see where ARE stacks up?

ARE is scheduled to make 6 plus mil next year, about 750 k less than moss. moss has a bunch of 1000 plus yard seasons. ARE after 5 years in the league is "on pace" to set relatively domicile career highs in receptions (60 plus) and yards (@750 yds).

ARE is a decent #2 wr but a stat and salary comparison of ARE to other #2 receivers in the league puts him in the middle considering all the great wr combos nowadays. TO and Roy, Boldin Fitz Beason, moss welker, wayne harrison gonzalez, houz ocho cinco, ward holmes, im sure theres more but ARE as a #2 is alright with me, just wish we targeted him more or use him like we do moss.

go skins!!
