Dont get me wrong, I dont think that the only reason Gibbs came back was to get $ for his race team but I do think the $ was a major factor in his return to coaching.
If that is true, why do you believe he left with a year remaining and 5m on his contract?
skinsnut 11-12-2008, 11:42 AM the skins seem to be doing much better with out the both of them
I dont think you can really claim the Skins would be much worse off at this point if Gibbs was still coach...our scoring is ranked low as it was last year plus we've had a healthy Oline for the most part.
Didn't we win like our last 5 out of 6 with Gibbs?
On the other hand...I don't think Lavar ever saw the post-season
celts32 11-12-2008, 11:45 AM Oh get off your self-righteous pedestal. Let's not all act like it's all LaVar. Everyone is culpable in what went down. Snyder, Gibbs, Williams, and Dale Lindsey could have done things better, and seeing how Lindsey was fired for poor job performance I don't think you lot should be jumping on LaVar's throat like vampires. Clearly LaVar is still bitter but you guys don't seem too far behind.
I don't think anyone hear is saying the skins were right in everything they did in the Lavar debockle. The anger toward Lavar is for publicly calling Gibbs a coward. First it's so far from the truth and second Gibbs would never do that to anyone for any reason.
irish 11-12-2008, 12:07 PM If that is true, why do you believe he left with a year remaining and 5m on his contract?
Because of the illness in his family. I think it was his grand child.
irish 11-12-2008, 12:08 PM I agree with you. I think it was a factor too. But everyone is in it for the money. The NFL is big business. Joe Gibbs is a businessman and a very smart one. He got his extra sponsor with Fed Ex. If you ask me it was a smart as hell move on his part. But it's not like he was sitting around and working 8 hour days.
I think a lot of fans on this site and all over redskin land have a hard time imagining that St. Joe would allow $ to ever factor into anything having to do with the redskins.
SmootSmack 11-12-2008, 12:32 PM Gibbs put his reputation on the line to come back to a team that was a complete mess, in no small part because talented players such as LaVar Arrington had no concept of putting team first, or leadership. Gibbs took the heat time and again and never said a bad word about any of his players in public (including Lavar) even when he could have called out his players. Gibbs (and others such as Williams) put in countless hours at the office and on the road to revive a sinking franchise while his 3-year old grandson was fighting for his life. There's no coward there.
So the people on this board side with Gibbs, that's how it should be. This is a Redskins' fan site and Joe Gibbs has done more for this franchise than Arrington ever hoped to accomplish. Arrington's career was, for all intents, a failure and he can blame others but he shouldn't forget to look in the mirror either. Gibbs has coached hundred of players in the NFL and Arrington is the only one who has said something bad about him. Maybe Arrington should think about that.

You summed things up perfectly.

Do you have some previously unknown insider information you can share? Or is this just idle speculation on your part?
birdz4gibbs 11-12-2008, 01:15 PM WOW lavar you really hold a grudge don,t you..thanks for your very short career here in washington i,m glad you were able to stop by a bit.anyways.
joe gibbs the hall of fame coach 3 time superbowl champion/3 time nascar champion a true character guy who is truly loved by me and many other fans alike has a strong track record .lavar you had a once and a lifetime chance to play for one of the best coaches in football but you didn,t want that too happen so here you are and now you are paying for it and you know it as well too.did this organization do some injustice sure they did but lavar didn,t help himself either..so this leads me to this lavar the once proud linebacker from penn state who had all the talent in the world but nothing to show for it but for the lack of discipline on the field you need to be quiet and move on with your life just like we have and we are doing absolutely fabulous at the moment too. joe gibbs came back to the skins cause he saw a once proud organization in disarray and he came back to reserrect this organization to where it is now and thats on the winning side of things now....joe gibbs is the head chief in charge of this organization and he saw what was going on inspite of knowing he was set with his family and grandkids with his raceteam...he indeed took a chance on his name and legacy to come back and to give back to this organization what it truly needed and that was direction within...and from himself...so lavar again please can it will ya.. move on..on a sidenote not to mention that the ST situation here was tough to say the least and joe gibbs was there for us and the team and it showed..
thanks and i,ll get off my soapbox now..
just my 2cents worth

........WAIT, there is solid reason, wisdom and logic guiding our loyalty to Joe? It's not blind devotion to Saint Joe? How can that be?
IT IS SO MUCH MORE IN VOGUE, to back any nutjob that pops up with stupid negative stuff to get his name in the press.
Hell yah, let's just throw his useless old ass under the bus......because........we can!
