Ijaeger 11-12-2008, 05:05 PM Love how we will honor Monk and Green at the game. Bout time. I feel like Jerry and the boyz do some crap like that to us every year, even though we've been pretty good at playing spoiler since 05. Also love the fact that Taylor will be honored at the NY game. I really feel like that will be a game similar to the one when Mara died and NY beat us like 36-0. I don't think anyone could've beaten them that day and hope it works out the same for us.
Giantone 11-12-2008, 05:06 PM I've been here!
So have I,oops!:spank:
GusFrerotte 11-12-2008, 06:04 PM Well it's pretty clear that Phi,Was and Dallas are fighting for the 5th and 6th seed of the playoffs now so if any of us want to go to Tampa better be hoping we pull what the giants did last season because it looks it's going to be on the road in the playoffs
You are forgetting a really good Atlanta team in the mix there bud. They are pretty healthy and playing sound ball on both sides. Also both TB and Atlanta have comparatively weak schedules. The Beasts of the East will beat the living hell out of each other, giving the NFC South 3 playoffs spots in the process. Without Clinton and Santana in the mix, there isn't much chance for a W in Sunday night's game. Campbell is not a game breaker without Moss and the rest of our WR corp are a bunch of underachievers that haven't stepped it up very much. JC can't keep throwing it to Cooley all night!!!!! If Zorn plays Betts with a little Rock added, our running game might be fine, but we won't beat the Boys featuring a one dimensional attack. Randle El better get his game on!!!!!!!

That is cool, but didn't we beat the Boys last year or was it in '06 when they honored Emmitt and co? I don't think special ceremonies affect gameplay that much, unless it is like a Mara or ST tragedy and even then it could end up being a negative, depending on how the team really handles it.

The NFC South teams all also have to play each other. I think that one WC comes out of the East and one out of the South. Right now we are sitting pretty good for at least a WC, we just need to Win our games. Starting with this week's game.
Go Skins!

The Falcons concern me, too. I hope the Panthers beat them this weekend. But like us, Atlanta's remaining divisional games are at home. Matt Ryan appears to be the real deal. The Falcons do what you need to do: beat the lousy teams (Chiefs, Lions) at home, where they're 4-0. We currently have a better conference record that Atlanta (5-2 v. 4-3), but the Skins still need the Falcons to lose a few more games.

I'm pretty sure it was the "Monday Night Miracle" in 05 that the 3 headed shitbag was inducted into the ring of honor or whatever it is. And I should've said that Moss has been pretty good at playing spoiler since 05, because let's face it, he is a cowboy killer, with exception of Cooley later that year in the total dismantling of the Cowboys- (35-7?) and Portis being his usual self. Either way, hope it all works in our favor. HTTR
firstdown 11-12-2008, 06:24 PM As a Cowboy fan, I'm very excited about this week. It's always fun playing the Redskins, even though we've been a punching bag as of late. I think there are 4 reasons for optimism for the Cowboys, but there are a lot of things to worry about as a fan.
REASONS FOR OPTIMISM:
1.) Return of Romo: Yeah, everyone hates him, and he struggled a little before he got hurt, but finally Cowboy fans realize how important Romo is to this franchise. People get mad because he throws INT's and hasn't won a playoff game, but at least we've gotten there. Him being back should really help.
2.) Return of Felix Jones: Felix's return is almost as big as Romo's return in my opinion. In 4 of the 5 games the Cowboys have won this year, he's made significant contributions, and in many different ways (special teams, running, catching). Marion Barber will also get more rest now, which should greatly benefit the running game overall.
3.) Clinton Portis: Clinton Portis is the MVP of the league right now. 'Nough said. He's been simply amazing this year, and in my opinion, has really helped Jason Campbell mature as a QB. If he's unable to play, or plays but not at 100%, the onus is going to be on Campbell to win the game with his arm. Yes, Campbell is an emerging star with the talent to be a perennial Pro Bowler. He burned the Cowboys secondary numerous times (SANTANA MOSS!! OH HOW I LOATHE YOU!!!). However, he had the major threat of the run to help him out. It'll be interesting to see if he can win without Portis.
4.) The Chargers: Huh? Well, listen a sec. Last year, the Chargers at this point were at 4-5, and all but written off for the season. As you know, they rattled off 7 straight wins and were a couple of plays going their way from reaching the SB. So, the Cowboys are far from out of it.
REASONS FOR CONCERN:
1.) "Secondary": God, the corners and safety's have just been awful this year. Pacman was an obvious bust, and Terrance Newman hasn't played since the Redskins game. Starting two rookies is a reciepe for disaster.
2.) Offensive Line: What happened? Flozell seems to have forgotten how to block speed rushers, and Leonard Davis looks to be back to his old self. The biggest reason why this team went 13-3 last year was the outstanding O-Line. They'll struggle to finish at .500 if the sloppy play keeps up.
3.) Undisciplined play: We saw it last year, but Dallas was able to overcome stupid penalties. This year, not so much. Larry Brown said this year on the Cowboys post game show that his teams took pride in being disciplined and not committing penalties. That passion stemmed from the head coach, Jimmy. This team, it seems to be an afterthought. I think it's a reflection of the lack of accountability that's around with Wade Phillips. You can be fair to players, but you have to know when to put your foot down. Wade doesn't seem to know how.
4.) Playing in Washington: Shit. Sorry, but you guys go INSANE whenever the Cowboys are in town. It feels like a college game. It's not like Philly where they just want an excuse to fight, but damn, you guys SERIOUSLY hate the Cowboys. That passion that the fans have is so helpful to players. I know when I played HS Football in Texas, when we would sell out our stadium that held 20K people, our team would get so fired up. I can't imagine 90 thousand. That's just crazy.
Well, I'm excited for Sunday. A win by the Cowboys, and they have the potential to be 8-4 (49ers and Seahawks) before playing the Steelers at Pittsburgh. If they lose, I don't see how they'll be able to make the playoffs. Woo!!! Let's see a kickass game.
A washed up 40 something QB who cannot move at all in the pocket and throws a bunch of picks is the standard used to appriciate Romo and his talents? OK Then!!!!!

It seems like alot are over looking the Panthers! They lead the division @ 7-2 people, Good enough for 3rd in the league. They are playing some very good football. It's still all too early to tell. I think alot will come together after this weekend.

Even after this week it will still be to hard to tell what will happen.
