decent guy for cheap. like said many times no one wants to play for oakland. well see how he does. hope for the best everyone. i do know being a couple years ahead of him in deep creek i know he was a butt and he cost us the state championship. hopefully he has or will change.

another good point is that he CHOSE to come and play here.

no doubt other teams were offering more money than us.

I can't specifically explain why but I like this move the best of James, J. Taylor, and Alexander. I've never been 100% sold on James, Taylor is in his last couple of years and we did have to give up some for him, Alexander is just a body who was very low risk but I doubt has any sort of future here.

Hall, on the other hand, is young, talented, and could be potentially be a starting defender with Rogers for years to come. He's been surrounded by chaos the past year or so, I think with some stability around him he can shine.

I hope you're right Smoot, I really do. If he could play up to his potential and we resigned him, we would have a great secondary for years to come. Rogers has matured this year and stepped his game up. If Hall would do that, that would be great. I hope you're right.

HALL EYEBALLS LONG-TERM STAY WITH THE REDSKINS
Posted by Mike Florio on November 7, 2008, 3:19 p.m.

One major factor that drove the decision of cornerback DeAngelo Hall to sign with the Redskins is the possibility of doing a long-term deal in D.C.

“It’s a one-year deal for now, but we’ll work something out long-term,” Hall told Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com. “That’s why I chose them. I don’t want to hit the market in the offseason and have to move my family again this year.

Per a league source, the Redskins want Hall to prove that he can be an asset in the locker room, and that he can return to past form on the field. If/when that happens, they’ll lock him up for the long haul.

In the end, Hall picked the Redskins from a pool that included three other teams — the Patriots, Ravens, and Jets. The packages, we’re told, were roughly equivalent.

Presumably, Hall will be the long-term replacement for Shawn Springs, who might or might not have been seen cramming a couple of duffel bags into the trunk of his car on Friday.

I look forward to watching Hall play for the Skins. I'm a huge VA Tech/Miami fan. Was sad when Justin Hamilton was let go, but now i can live with it. With the remaining schedule it will bye Springs some more time to get healthy and then we will be on fire!!! If only Pete Kendall could return punts!!!

I'm fine with the move.. Hall is young, healthy, presumably hungry and has shown his talent in the past. Financially we're not on the hook for much and he can come in and have an impact immediately on two phases of the game-defense and special teams. The dude can fly and has great hands. Jerry Gray is probably the best DB coach in the league so with him I think Hall will get back to form. With Rogers, Hall, Smoot and Torrence at CB and Springs, Landry and Horton at S it's going to be hell on QB that face us down the stretch!

I'm all for getting a guy when his value is the lowest, which is exactly what the Redskins have done here. No problem at all with Cerrato's move.

This is a HUGE responsibility for Blache though to be able to balance the playing time Hall thinks he deserves with the playing time that Hall actually deserves. Remember, the first time a receiver drops a pass within ten yards of him, Hall's going to feel like he's earned a $7 million raise.

regardless of what most people may think .......

we need springs at corner.. the guy is still our best corner even the way Rogers is playing .... rogers will never be the corner we need unless he can change games for us...

and 99% of the time, he doesnt... last year against the saints or rams i 4get... he returned one for a td

but i know everyone remembers '05 -- angainst Seattle in the playoffs.... drop'd a pick 6... and against the steelers -- dropp'd a pick 6...

he will get better.

but a healthy Springs > Rogers IMO. .... both and Hall > Smoot.
