Frost 11-01-2008, 11:42 AM hey i'm kinda browsing around ebay and craigslist for some authentic redskisn helmets, some autographed etc.. not sure what to look for in terms of authenticity of helmets, but im looking at this WASHINGTON REDSKINS TEAM SIGNED FULL SIZE F/S HELMET - eBay (item 130265910276 end time Nov-02-08 16:50:55 PST) (http://cgi.ebay.com/WASHINGTON-REDSKINS-TEAM-SIGNED-FULL-SIZE-F-S-HELMET_W0QQitemZ130265910276QQihZ003QQcategoryZ272 76QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotoh osting)
what do u guys think? is it worth it, do u think the signatures are real and how about the price, so far all the signatures i have collected are from the actuall palyer so i've never dealt with ebay items.... any help or info is greatly apreciated.
saden1 11-01-2008, 12:10 PM I can't tell how bit it is. Is it really full size? Ask the seller to take a picture of the helmet with something that would give you perspective on how big it is next to it (i.e. 1 gallon milk container). As for the authenticity of the signatures, who knows? You'll just have to take their word for it or take it to someone knowledgeable in the field.
saden1 11-01-2008, 12:20 PM If you can get the seller to take close up pictures of Betts, Rogers, Griffin, Moss, and Cooley signatures on the helmet I can verify for you (to some degree) based a signed ball I have.
Frost 11-01-2008, 12:52 PM yea im gonna write him, i mean it does say its a full size REPLICA, does that mean its a cheap plastic one ? hmmm and what is it with everyone that says it comes with CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY,, where do these certificates come from? i can understand the stores that sell these/but where do individual sellers get these so called COA lol

1) It looks horrible; 2) He says he got the signatures "in person" which means a COA will likely be something he prints out on his computer; 3) It is a full size REPLICA helmet, which is basically a full size helmet that is the same quality as the replica mini helmets. It is not an authentic helmet. Here are some sellers you should check out:
ballpark_sports (http://myworld.ebay.com/ballpark_sports&ssPageName=STRK:MEFSX:SELLERID) : for decent prices on helmets, unsigned.
Real Stuff Sports Serving Collectors Since 1980 (http://www.realstuffsports.com/) : helmets, again not the best prices in the world but some interesting things.
leader_in_sports (http://myworld.ebay.com/leader_in_sports&ssPageName=STRK:MEFSX:SELLERID) : they do local signings and have some merchandise on eBay.
Autographed Memorabilia - Radtke Sports (http://www.radtkesports.com/) : not the best prices but nice stuff.
Also check out local autograph shows. Welcome Page (http://www.psgamegear.com) ; Collectors' Showcase of America (http://www.csashows.com) ; among others.
Look for COAs from Steiner, Mounted Memories, Leader in Sports, PS Game Gear, PSA/DNA, James Spence (JSA). Avoid GAI and others less reputable COAs. Any seller should be able to tell you where and when the signing too place and you can verify at Autograph Signings - SigningsHotline.com (http://www.signingshotline.com/).

I can make out the Cooley signature, and it looks like the one he signed for me in person. I mean, obviously if it was fake, they'd make it look like that too, but that looks legit (Cooleys). I'm interested to see what kind of helmet that is though, it doenst look like a real one.
Smooter 11-01-2008, 06:21 PM Thats a replica helmet. Look at the white sticker on the back that tells you not to wear it for protection.
dmek25 11-02-2008, 07:15 AM it says replica right in the description
Hogroll 11-02-2008, 08:18 AM I would agree that it looks a little trashy. This is one of those cases where more is not better.
Smooter 11-02-2008, 09:28 AM Who cares really. If you're going for the autographs and not planning on running around the house headbutting walls I say go for it. I've got a replica helmet like that if you want some close ups of the inside or something else.
