YouTube - South Carolina vs. LSU Ref Forearm Shiver mooby 10-21-2008, 02:34 AM My first thought when I saw that was those bud light commercials where in the defensive huddle the leader says,"alright guys whoever stops them here gets a cold bud light on me", and the ref stands there listening and then during the play the ref tackles the offensive player and then you see him sitting on the sidelines drinking a cold one. Since those are two legit college teams though, I guess I'd just have to say wtf? I think if a ref did that then South Carolina should have a legit complaint for the ref interfering with the play. The ref has no right to do that, he should move out of the way if he sees a player coming at him like that. MTK 10-21-2008, 09:42 AM The kicker is this guy wasn't even disciplined by the SEC. They say he was protecting himself, but why did he step forward, put his arm up, and give him the business? JoeRedskin 10-21-2008, 11:09 AM The kicker is this guy wasn't even disciplined by the SEC. They say he was protecting himself, but why did he step forward, put his arm up, and give him the business? Because he had two choices: 1) Curl up in a ball and cower like a girly man; or 2) step up, brace himself and be ready to drive back into the hit. If it had been Ed Hochuli, the running back would STILL be lying on the field. MTK 10-21-2008, 11:10 AM How about staying put or taking a step back away from the play? hooskins 10-21-2008, 12:39 PM Because he had two choices: 1) Curl up in a ball and cower like a girly man; or 2) step up, brace himself and be ready to drive back into the hit. We are not watching the same clip. he took a shot at the player, why cant he move backwards and/or towards his left? he still would be standing and not disrupt the play. One of the more bizarre things I have seen in sports. BleedBurgundy 10-21-2008, 12:40 PM Are you kidding me? I think he had a flashback to his playing days. BDBohnzie 10-21-2008, 05:01 PM When I first watched it, I didn't think anything of it...just a ref protecting himself. Then I watched it again...that ref looked like he was in an Oklahoma drill and wasn't letting Garcia get past him. MTK 10-21-2008, 08:26 PM It's very odd. He clearly steps forward and is watching the player come at him, he lines him up and hits him. JoeRedskin 10-21-2008, 10:54 PM How about staying put or taking a step back away from the play?
