Big deal? Not important? You decide.
Powell endorses Obama as 'transformational' - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20081019/pl_politico/14714)

Not surprising, but (in my opinion) Powell is one of those guys who when he speaks you listen. I would have loved to seen him on a presidential ticket. I tend to agree with him when he says it's not so much about McCain but about his fears of the direction of the Republican party.
Pretty significant if you ask me.

That's a nice endorsement but hardly changes anything. What's more news worthy is that Obama raised more than 150 million dollars in September (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/20/us/politics/20donate.html?hp).

Wow. The guy knows how to raise money, for sure.

Maybe getting throttled this year will end up being a positive thing for the Repubs in the long term.

While I don't agree with Barack Obama philisophically on most issues, the one area where I favor him over McCain is temperament.
Obama strikes me as someone who is more thoughtful, more introspective and level-headed. McCain appears as more impulsive, acting from the gut. And his first instinct appears to be violence. Now, that may be a product of his military background. But we've had eight years of a president and an administration who obviously acts without thinking things through.
It's time for a departure from that.

Full endorsement in full context...it's the most reasoned endorsement I have ever seen:

Much respect to C. Powell. Had he run, he would have my vote as well.

Anybody hear Rush Limbaugh on this issue ?
He's mixing a speech from Obama reacting to his new supporter with Powell's speech to the U.N. on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction.
Obviously asking the question of why Obama is so pleased with the endorsement of a person who initially opposed him on the Iraq war.
