The good news for Detroit fans is they got a helluva lot for Williams. The bad news for Detroit fans is that the Lions will draft another wide receiver with their first pick and then justify it.

Without Millen around they may actually change their ways. Maybe.

Isn't it amazing that out of those 4 guys they took (Charles Rogers, Roy Williams, Mike Williams, and Calvin Johnson) only one is still standing? What a joke.

Rogers and M.Williams were awful. R.Williams and C.Johnson are pro-bowl talent. Great picks talent-wise, the Lions just suck at addressing needs.

This is actually a pretty good move for the Cowboys. They essentially gave up a first (remember, extra 3rd n 6th means it pretty much leaves them with their original draft picks) for a guy who can come in and make their offense that much better. Roy Williams is a Pro Bowl talent and we've all seen what having two Pro Bowl wideouts can do for your offense (Harrison and Wayne in the glory days in Indy, Boldin and Fitzgerald in Arizona) so this will make Dallas' offense that much better, especially when Romo gets back. Jerry made this move because in all seriousness that offense was going to be lacking with Hurd gone for the season, Romo gone for a month, and Jones out for two weeks. This move pretty much vaults them up the pack again to SB contenders.

Not to mention Detroit gets an extra first rounder next year that they can help to use with their rebuilding effort (I figure Marinelli won't last beyond this year at the rate he's going, and they will hire a new GM/coach after this season.

I think there is justification on the Cowboys side, a first round pick for a pro bowl WR is good value but this still looks like a look at me trade .

Possibly one things that wasn't broken on that team was the passing game . The Run game with Barber as the feature back was always going to be in trouble if teams keyed on him , the defense is thin so boulstering a strength can some times be a smart thing .

Does it make them superbowl contenders .....not any more than they were a week ago . Someone still neads to get the ball to Williams or Owens . I think WR is a very over rated possition in the scheme of things . Look at the teams with the best WRs (Cincy, Indy and Arizona) and they have one SB between them . Balance is what it is all about . They had a great WR in Terry Glenn and that got them what exactly ?

roy is good, but not nearly in the league of moss, TO, or andre johnson (or plex, or those two guys in AZ), and going forward calvin johnson and edwards will be better...

he's a crazy #2 (but still not the best - see Q in AZ or harrison/wayne in indy), but if it's really a 1,3 and 6, it's too much for one year or multiple years with heaps of new money. plus, adding him to the TO-centric offense... well, maybe TO gets a bit jealous.

Well I was concerned about TO's reaction as well. But from all reports, the GM mentioned the trade to Owens as is was being done and Owens was (quote) "ECSTATIC".

Then when the deal was finalized, reporters spoke with Roy Williams and he said the first call he got was from TO. So we will see I guess.

But as far as the deal goes it was not really all that bad. Yeah 3 draft picks sounds like a lot. But believe it or not yesterday morning when the Cowboys were getting their breakfast, they had 10 total draft picks for the 2009 draft.

After the trade was done at the end of the day, Dallas had nine draft picks for the 2009 draft. They only gave up one draft pick.

Because of Pacman's suspension, the Cowboys received the Titans 5th round pick. That was s stipulation of the trade.

Dallas already had two-3rd round picks (Cleveland) and two-6th round picks (Miami, Jason Fergeson trade).

So Dallas sends their first, third and 6th rounder for Williams. Chances are the 3rd and 6th round picks from Cleveland and Miami are going to be higher anyway.

And Dallas got a 7th rounder from Detroit.

They've lost 2 of their last 3. What else is there to say?
