Breaking News Roy Williams Traded to Dallasjohnerotten 10-15-2008, 05:41 PM from what i have heard, roy williams has a very shitty work ethic.let's hope it's accurate. kind of dumb to sign him when you need dbs is'nt it? 53Fan 10-15-2008, 06:00 PM NEWSFLASH!.... Terrell Owens has talked Jerry Jones into playing newly acquired receiver Roy Williams at cornerback until Pacman comes back! Lotus 10-18-2008, 11:17 PM Well I was concerned about TO's reaction as well. But from all reports, the GM mentioned the trade to Owens as is was being done and Owens was (quote) "ECSTATIC". Then when the deal was finalized, reporters spoke with Roy Williams and he said the first call he got was from TO. So we will see I guess. But as far as the deal goes it was not really all that bad. Yeah 3 draft picks sounds like a lot. But believe it or not yesterday morning when the Cowboys were getting their breakfast, they had 10 total draft picks for the 2009 draft. After the trade was done at the end of the day, Dallas had nine draft picks for the 2009 draft. They only gave up one draft pick. Because of Pacman's suspension, the Cowboys received the Titans 5th round pick. That was s stipulation of the trade. Dallas already had two-3rd round picks (Cleveland) and two-6th round picks (Miami, Jason Fergeson trade). So Dallas sends their first, third and 6th rounder for Williams. Chances are the 3rd and 6th round picks from Cleveland and Miami are going to be higher anyway. And Dallas got a 7th rounder from Detroit. The whole TO being good-natured and "ecstatic" about the trade thing? I'll believe it when I see it long term. I realize that the Cowboys had draft picks to burn. But they likely could have gotten R. Williams cheaper in the off-season, especially since Millen is gone from the Lions front office. Then the rest of their draft picks would go farther. As well, I grant that R. Williams will add nice marginal upside to the Cowboys offense immediately. I don't grant that this margin will be #1, #3, and #6 draft picks good. It will be hard to get Williams enough balls to both warrant the price and still be left with enough snaps to have a viable running game. Also, Williams is a bit of a gamble. Will he really be a re-energized Pro Bowler, or will he be the childish loafing whiner he's been the last couple of seasons? The longer I think about this, this smacks of the Joey Galloway trade. 53Fan 10-21-2008, 08:22 AM Lets see...first game together with T.O....Williams 0 catches...T.O. 2 catches 31 yards. A number 1 a 3 and a 6..... Yeah, that sounds like a great deal. MTK 10-21-2008, 09:33 AM NEWSFLASH!.... Terrell Owens has talked Jerry Jones into playing newly acquired receiver Roy Williams at cornerback until Pacman comes back! The scary thing is he could probably cover better than the other R. Williams. Hog1 10-21-2008, 09:59 AM Damn it Thats what JJ is thinking as well EARTHQUAKE2689 10-21-2008, 10:14 AM Thats what JJ is thinking as well I wasnt thinking that Hog1 10-21-2008, 10:21 AM Just the look on JJ's, Wades faces is incredible. It's like Survivor NFL, where contestants get invited on the show to be the latest savior and right the sinking ship. WHO will get voted ON the show next? firstdown 10-21-2008, 04:39 PM I was at a dinner meeting last thursday night and sitting across from a dallas fan. I asked him what he thought about Dallas giving up all those picks and that big contract to Roy Williams and got a reply like this."I don't know what's going on . I don't know why they let him go and now we give up 3 picks and that big contract we should have just kept him on the team. I just looked at him and said "you do realize that you now have two Roy Williams on your team". He gave me this dumb look and I went on to explain to him what happened with his team as others around the table just kind of laughed. JLee9718 10-21-2008, 07:02 PM One good thing is that it takes away draft choices from the Cowboys. Maybe with the players they have they can take a year off from drafting and let their present players mature some more. I hate Dallas, the Giants, and the Eagles in that order. But I'm glad to hear people saying the NFC East is the best in pro football, and they include the Redskins in that assessment. Maybe Sunday against Detroit we can solidify that assessment. |
