SmootSmack 10-13-2008, 08:31 AM Uh....I'm not a betting man but I would almost bet my next paycheck(which is small) that we hear from Sally Jenkins this week. Just a feeling.
Giantone....you are correct. I was not niave enough to think we would not lose a game, it's just I was hoping it would be against an opponent with a winning record. I just didn't want us to be the ones who lost to the Rams. I knew they would get their first one just hoping it wouldn't be us. Like the Dolphins of last yr. lol.
The only solice I had was the fact that Dallas lost keeping the records the same. This week I am a Brown fan....beat Giants. Sorry Giantone. The hole Division is hoping the Giants lose so they don't get out of reach.
I think SJ had already said she's going to be writing something this week, according to the thread Matty started last week
SBXVII 10-13-2008, 08:53 AM I know just seems convenient. I wonder if its pro or con....I'm betting con.
I honestly can't get too upset about this loss. We know exactly why they lost, the 3 turnovers killed them, simple as that. Going by some of the player comments after the game I think it's obvious some guys started to believe the hype a bit and perhaps weren't as focused as they needed to be. Just gotta brush this one off and use it as a learning experience going forward.

While all 3 turnovers were bad, only one of them absolutely hurt us. How hard is it to fall down after you've made a catch? Olinemen have as much business trying to run with the ball as I do walking in Southeast.
scowan 10-13-2008, 09:36 AM The Kendall fumble was a 10 point swing. We were driving for at least 3 and THEY got 7! Fumbles were eventually going to happen, and they just happened everytime we were driving for scores, so they really hurt.

Dumb move by Kendall but it was such a freak thing. How often does a lineman have a ball land in their hands? Kendall did the wrong thing but I can't get too upset over it.
The other turnovers might not have led to scores but they were lost scoring chances, so they still hurt.

Yes, but if you take away 7 points from the Rams, we win. You a right though all three were on drives we could have scored on. IDK, maybe I am still in disbelief.
At least the Cowgirls lost. Now only if Cleveland can give us some help tonight. I doubt it, but hey we lost to the Rams so anything is possible.
skinsnut 10-13-2008, 10:29 AM We expected to blow the Rams out today, and the way the defense played (although they dropped two very easy INTs), you would have thought we beat them 20-3.
Now, the offense did get consistently beaten by the Rams in pass protection. But that's the ONLY place that we underperformed expectations, and I believe it's totally unreasonable to expect every unit to play it's best game every week.
GTripp,
That is certainly not true.
Our kicking game was horrible,
Kickoffs out of bounds, punting? punt coverage, kickoff coverage?
Hell, the kicking game plus turnovers seemed to give them the ball at midfield to start....I consider major kicking blunders almost as bad as a turnover.
As we learned from Shottenheimer, field position and defense can win games.
The defense was solid....
But, who won the coaching?
Saunders knew what to expect on that last play and he knew who which receiver would have the nickle back and they threw to him.
It is true that the Skins essentially shut down the running game and even the passing game all day, but awesome field position always kept the Rams 1 big play away from victory.
The only reason we shouldn't seriously consider cutting Brooks at this point is because the Skins have not groomed a backup QB as holder.
As I said in preseason, they should have done this to give them more flexibility with who to keep as punter....now, we are kinda stuck with this guy that may take a half a season to figure it out....if he keeps it up, we just may lose a game because of him....
And I love Swishy but, hasn't he kicked out of bounds twice this year?
I am not sure, but that is inexcusable.
What is worse is the special teams coaching, why even try a corner kick if your kicker struggles with that?...last game they pooched one late giving the opposition the ball at the 40...and what the hell is with the coverage units?
I say put every LB on the squad in there, something is definately wrong.
Fumbles happen.
2 of 3 of them shouldn't have if the skins fell on them...and they would have won because of it....this is basic.
Kicking coverage teams stink right now...and that is a major factor in why we lost.
Takeuon 10-13-2008, 10:57 AM I just think that somewhere down the line this loss is going to come back and bite us in the ass. It's a conference loss and anyway you look at it, we can't lose to the Rams at home.
Yeah agreed. The "lets get over it and look ahead to the Browns" might be an approach some want to take for now. But that doesn't mean I can't still be pissed off! IMO Pete Kendall screwed us BIG time! Yes there are other reasons we lost. But that was what changed the game.
BDBohnzie 10-13-2008, 12:17 PM The Skins saw was a combination of pride and desperation can do. However, the Rams didn't win this ball game, the Skins lost it. Mental errors and mistakes cost the Redskins the game.
Hopefully they can look past it, sure up the mistakes, and play focused next week.
