Beemnseven 10-12-2008, 09:31 PM Did today's game scare you? Exactly.
I think the Redskins AND the fans would be well served to just take things one week at a time. I tried telling this to everyone when this site was being drenched in Kool Aid after last week's win. As far as The Warpath is concerned, hopefully it will be a lesson to all of those who keep looking ahead on the schedule and talking about 7-1... Worry about the game in front of you. Expectations are premeditated resentments.
I could care less about our next game against Dallas at this point. I'm focused on how we will respond to a bad, bad loss with another big opportunity to win at home next week.
Yes. And how about let's see some friggin' points get scored for a change? This offense has all the parts, so let's see it. There have been too many times when this team has stopped itself from getting into the endzone and had to settle for three. 17 lousy points against the lowly Rams has to make these guys on offense steaming mad.
They need to drop at least 40 on the Browns.
hesscl34 10-12-2008, 09:31 PM I'm just saying.. nothing is ever a forgone conclusion and it's a damn shame most of you and the skins thought it was.. I'm sad.. But I'm VERY happy the Boys lost too.. :)

To me, aside from generating more pass rush, this needs to be the primary focus right now. Prior to this week the problem was settling for too many FG's when driving into the red zone/scoring position. This week it was turning it over when driving.
53Fan 10-12-2008, 10:05 PM There seems to be a lot of talk about what we should do as fans , as if WE are playing the game. Unless I'm at the game, I don't think it matters if I'm juggling cats or screaming my lungs out. It does'nt matter if I'm flippant or deadly serious, it's not going to affect the outcome of the game. What's important is that the PLAYERS understand they need to take each opponent seriously, not me. Before this game this was a team that was happy and feeling good about themselves, just as we were feeling about them. It's natural and was well deserved. I consider this game as "growing pains". Unless they're stupid, and I don't think they are, they will learn from this. If we, the team, don't grow, we're not going anywhere. A good team improves as the season goes on. I believe we will do that. This , after 6 weeks, cannot be the finished product. We will continue to learn and improve, and yes have growing pains, but by the end of the season we should look better than when we started. If we won games like this, I believe the team would grow complacent and that would lead us to look like the Cowgirls always look at the end of the year. We deserved to lose because of turnovers and penalties, not because of what I, or anyone else on this board said.

I'm not trying to tell anyone how to act. Speculation and over-excitement is expected amongst die hard fans when our team is 4-1 and rolling. I was simply sharing the way I approach each week.
I guess my real point is I hope some people around here learned that wins are never a foregone conclusion, regardless of opponent. Nor should we take it easy on the team after this awful loss just because we looked good for the 4 weeks prior. We came out flat, we looked bad on special teams and offense, and blew it at home to a winless team. As a fan I'm hopeful, but also staying humble.
Obviously the way we act as fans has no bearing on the outcome of the game.
I sure am glad Dallas is wetting the bed.
That Guy 10-12-2008, 10:22 PM i think the team looked past them. uninspired play and 3 TOs... ouch. still, we almost won, we should have won, but you gotta figure trap games happen :/.
53Fan 10-12-2008, 10:22 PM Maybe I'm sadistic but I LOVED seeing Wade Phillips jumping around like they just won the Super Bowl after the fieldgoal then losing the game. :food-smil
chrisl13 10-12-2008, 10:35 PM At least we will be going into next week's game ready to whoop the Browns' asses to relieve some anger from today's loss.
53Fan 10-12-2008, 10:45 PM This Sunday at 4 o'clock will be a very bad day to be a Browns fan.

Amazing. This is the attitude so many of us had going into today's game. Good thing we learned a lot from assuming a victory.
