Frost is currently 26th in the league in net average.

Brooks was a bust, but it's not like we lost a gem in Frost. He's a dime a dozen type of punter.

Can't argue with this, I just hate wasting a draft pick on a punter.

I hear ya, but the draft is such a crapshoot especially in the later rounds. You win some, you lose some.

How can you say someone is a bust when they've only played a few games? I could understand if he'd been around for a few years and had constantly been inconsistent but rookie inconsistency can be (or at least should be) ironed out before the end of the season.

Should we continue to waste time on him instead of bringing in at least a proven consistent punter? No. But I think it's a bit rash to throw a bust sign around his neck so soon.

But I don't really care whether or not we release him. Hell he's just a punter, he doesn't make or break games (unless you kick a 26 yard punt...)

Did anyone see who Dallas brought in to punt now that McBriar is done for the year? It would be galling if Brooks landed there and FINALLY learned to be consistent. It wouldn't surprise me if he was on their short list since the best performance of his brief Redskins career was the game at Dallas.

Let me clarify, he was a bust to this point.

We placed him on injured/waivers which means if he clears waivers(he might have already) then we can IR him. Effectively tying him up. But seriously no one is going to want this guy mid-season anyways. He'll certainly get a shot in training camp next year but no one is going bring him in now and expect him to be magically better at punting in the NFL. Hell dallas can have him. I'll take the risk that he ends up figuring it out since there's a far better chance he'll just stink for them like he did for us.

After 6 games the light is going to suddenly turn on for him? I doubt it. I think he'll get some looks next year in camp, but for this year he's probably going to be sitting home.

The new punter was no better than Brooks. Hopefully he'll improve from the performance in the Browns game. I was ready the blame the missed field goal on his hold, but somebody said the snap was high, the holder got it down and in position, but it was just a bad kick.

You must not have watched the game. Plackemeier's punts looked a TON better than Brooks'. They had height and distance, two things that Brooks seemed to have left in college. Also, 2 punts inside the 20 and a touchback too. No 26-yard shanks that go out at mid-field. He kicked one 48 yards. His career average is 42.1 yards, a very respectable stat. Brooks' average so far was 39 per.

He may have had a role in that bad FG with his hold, but that was something that Brooks was consistently horrible at. Any improvement will help and I'm sure Plack will get comfortable with the new center he's working with.

BIG improvement so far, but then again it was tough to be as bad as Brooks was.
