I didn't see this posted anywhere yet, but according to a Washington Times source the officials admit they screwed up the call on the Jackson TD:

Washington Times - Help is likely on the way (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/oct/11/help-is-likely-on-way/?page=2)

A Redskins source said the NFL admitted that officials erred in picking up a penalty flag that would've negated a first-quarter punt return for a touchdown by the Eagles' DeSean Jackson.

The officials apparently were confused over which No. 50, Washington's Khary Campbell or Philadelphia's Tank Daniels, committed an illegal block in the back. It was Daniels.

Not surprising to hear this. I felt like throwing my redskins gnome through the tv when that happened.

It seems as though there have been alot of screw ups with calls this year. I am curius in what the deal is with these officials this year.

Not only have there been a lot of screw ups, but they've been game changing or potentially game changing screw ups.

Who was the head ref that game?

well, it doesn't take the points back, but it actually does make me feel better... the eagles know we really beat them 23-10

yeah, something should definitely be done, but the problem is the nfl doesn't hire any full time refs. All these guys work different jobs (lawyers, judges, etc.) all week and then come in and ref games on sunday, therefore it makes it nearly impossible to punish them in any way.

I think a good idea would be to put more cameras up at different angles and have a panel of refs monitor them from a booth, while keeping constant communication with refs on field. Coaches should also be able to challenge more calls than they are allowed. For example, we should've been able to challenge the "picked up flag" in the eagles game. Sean Payton should have been able to challenge the no-call on Bush's facemask, etc. Ultamitely, it is not fair to have the game dictated by somebody who is part of the nfl for only one day a week.

The officials now belong in a home eating apple sauce and tater tots. The bad calls and mass confusion have been a circus sideshow. I guess it could be worse we could have refs like in the NBA.

Get rid of coaches challenges, put someone up in the booth with the ability to challenge ANY play. This "whistle was blown" and "Down by contact" bullshit pisses me off.
